Based on the I-Search papers that we completed on teenage development, here are some tips for teenagers to help them be happier and to help them develop in positive ways.

  1. For kids with parents whose words influence them in a negative way: First accept that your parents are here to show you a better path and right now they’re just angry. Remember that there are teens out there who are going through the same thing, you're not alone. Try and surround yourself with people who embrace the positive in you and frequently know that you are a positive person in their life. Finally remember that you can change the way your parents think about you. Take it one step at a time and have conversations, compromise and come to a consensus with your parents.(Migdalia)

  2. Kids who feel like their parents are living through themand are applying to much pressure the best thing for them to do is for them to talk to their parent. If they feel like the pace their parents are pushing them to is too fast they should express their true feelings.Them doing so would make it easier for the parents to understand your feelings and so they can see how they are affecting you and see the error in their ways.

  3. Kids don’t need to fit in but it’s natural to. It is natural for you to try fit in because its a healthy way to grow up. It allows you to view different things that you enjoy and help you decide the career options that you enjoy. When teens can’t fit in then they feel that they are not special and that they are worth nothing.

I decided to make this because I was interested in making stuff look girly like a creative. I want to make something more advanced more my actual project but I did enjoy using and making sure I knew how to use the materials. Although I did not put sharpie on my research list , the sharpie made an improvement on how my drawing came out so I do plan on using it in the future.

Art Elective Project Reflection

  1. For my project I wanted to draw something from my past. I chose to draw a dancer because it was something that I really enjoyed doing as a kid. I used color because I thought it looked nice, and I wanted to make use of the negative space so I drew a ribbon. For this piece, I just wanted to have fun with it. The end result was not exactly what I was going for, but I do like it a lot.

  2. Describe your project
It is a pencil drawing with color. I drew a dancer from off of the internet and I added a ribbon around the dancer. I drew it because I like dancing, drawing and the color purple. I really like how it represents my love for those two hobbies.

  3. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?
I already knew some dance positions and I also knew how to draw basic figures.

  4. What new skill did you want to learn coming into the project?
I learned how to incorporate color into a sketch.

  5. Did you accomplish this goal?
    Yes I did.

  6. How do you know you accomplished the goal? If you didn’t accomplish the goal, why do you think that is?
I think I accomplished my goal because I drew what I wanted and I did it. I am satisfied with the outcome and that is what I wanted for this project.

  7. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?
I learned how to use negative space to add more to a piece. I also learned how to draw cool ribbon sort of.

  8. What are you most proud of in this project?
I am proud of the figure drawing I did.

  9. What would you do differently if you had to do the project over again?

I would have drawn another one in a different pose.

It can be seen as a tree with colorful; leaves or an women face with a colorful afro. I did it like this because they go together because its like in the future I want to be and want my husband to see me as a natural african queen. On the sides are like fog clouds surrounded with birds and smoke. I put that because its like I don't want my life plan is but I hope its surrounded with peaceful and get rid of all the negativity.

  2. What knowledge did you already have about the project before you started?

  6. What other skill(s) did you learn along the way?

    1. While doing this, I learned that more thoughts/ideas come to mind when you're in the actual process of completing the piece. Like when I was doing this, I already had dow and knew what I wanted but as I continued, more thoughts and ideas co=came together to incorporate into the canvas.
