Ivana- That’s really cool. So my last question is

What made you choose SLA@Beeber? “I must say I did not realize that SLA Beeber was even in my neighborhood but I requested um through my school to find a school that I can walk too and I was told that SLA Beeber was here and they were taking uh student teachers and it worked out.

Poet- Jose Marti

El  Título- La Niña de Guatemal

Quiero, a la sombra de un ala,

Contar este cuento en flor:

La niña de Guatemala,

La que se murió de amor.

Eran de lirios los ramos,

Y las orlas de reseda

Y de jazmín: la enterramos

En una caja de seda.

...Ella dio al desmemoriado

Una almohadilla de olor:

El volvió, volvió casado:

Ella se murió de amor.\

Iban cargándola en andas

Obispos y embajadores:

Detrás iba el pueblo en tandas,

Todo cargado de flores.

...Ella, por volverlo a ver,

Salió a verlo al mirador:

El volvió con su mujer:

Ella se murió de amor.

Como de bronce candente

Al beso de despedida

Era su frente ¡la frente

Que más he amado en mi vida!

...Se entró de tarde en el río,

La sacó muerta el doctor:

Dicen que murió de frío:

Yo sé que murió de amor.

Allí, en la bóveda helada,

La pusieron en dos bancos:

Besé su mano afilada,

Besé sus zapatos blancos.

Callado, al oscurecer,

Me llamó el enterrador:

¡Nunca más he vuelto a ver

  • The poem was extremely confusing. The poem was about a Guatemalan girl that died. The girl died in the river. This guy had a lot of emotions toward the girl. They were in love with each other. After the girl died he got married. The theme of this poem was love. I believe that the guy was heartbroken.

Yo nunca voy a querer otra vez.

Te veré cuando llegue allí.

Te amo cariño.

What can I do without you in my life?

How can I breathe without you?

I can’t believe my love is gone.

You are my angel.

I’m so sad and depressed.

Why do I deserve to still be alive?

You were the one for me.

Why couldn’t I save you?

I will never love again.

I will see you when I get there.

I love you BABY.
