Angie´s artist statement- We decided to put lights around the hat in a loop form because we thought that it would be cool to make a hat light up using batteries and wires. We light the idea of putting the lights in the hat every since we mentioned it and we really hopes this works. We believe that this idea was really good and we think that we did the best we could with this hat. This was a very fun experiment with the hat.

Trinati´s artist statement- I chose this object because nobody else was doing a hat in my class and I wanted to be different. I created this hat so I could see in the dark at nighttime. I decided to put the lights on the cap part of the hat because I thought it would be cool and people would notice the lights more. This project was the most creative and fun project.

In this project, I decided to make my name sculpture because a name is something that represents our identity. It’s something that makes us who we are.  And therefore it's really important to work hard and to succeed in life, so you can be known as a good person. My name is really important to me because it means “made of gold” and that's why I want to work really hard in my life to actually shine my life as golds.

Me and glenn are lighting up a gamecube controller with Christmas lights and an open switch. This controller represents us because we both have been playing videogames since we were kids. We made a series circuit and attached it to the gamecube controller. We play games to escape reality and have fun.

We chose this project because we felt like it would be a good idea to light up something that we care about a lot. Playing games is our childhood and we wouldn’t be the people we are today without them. We chose the specific controller because we both liked super smash bros which can played with this controller. We also believe this controller just represents gaming culture as a whole.

This item represents my love for sports. I chose this disc because it actually had the blood and sweat of me and my friends on it. It shows my determination and my passion for sports. This item will always be a reminder to me to always give anything I do 100% effort. That’s why I made this sculpture.

I chose to make this sculpture because it will help me when i'm reading in the dark. Since i wear glasses and like to read this will help me a lot when i choose to read in the dark. I constructed a sculpture that'll help me do what i love and that is read. This is a cheaper way to light up your glasses instead buying them for however much it'll usually cost.

Artistic statement

Originally we were going to do something simple but we wanted to exceed expectation and think of something nobody else in the class would do. The most common thing other people did was attach lights to something and since we didn't just want to attach lights to something and have it look like we didn't put any effort in it. I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy1dYFGkPUE and i wanted to make something like it because it represent art and hip-hop culture a bit because of the samples they used in the music and the messages on the shirt. Although we didn't make anything explicit and kept it PG on the shirt we tried to spice it up a little bit by drawing the deuces sign on it. That dueces sign represents No worries and no problems  to us, so we drew it because we thought we wouldn't have no problem doing these benchmarks and standards. In the end we made a good project and were very proud of it.

For our video, we chose to interview a former SLA@beeber student who works at Bartram's Garden. The main focus of the interview was to talk about the everyday life of the garden and the important and impact it has on the community.  As the interview continued we found out that the most important aspect of keeping the garden intact is the soil. The first thing the workers do at the garden is waking the beds. This means they mix the soil so that the wet soil mixes. The message we took from the Bartram's Garden worker is that their main goal is to influence healthy eating throughout their community.
The most meaningful part about the project was showing ways people can help out around their community and given example on what to do to have a healthy garden.

We made this as our physics project because we love chocolate and metaphors are cool. The quote we picked is also a metaphor. We picked this quote because it involves both chocolate and metaphors. Our original plan was to make a poster for an artist we were going to see in concert this summer but we thought it was too plain to write someone's name. And so we picked a well known quote instead. And that is why our physics project is a poster that says "Life is like a box of chocolates."

Artist Statement- The item that I have constructed is a wand from one of my favorite novel classics, Harry Potter from J.K Rowling. The wand isn’t really that fancy compared to the real thing, but it is better than nothing. A lot of what this wand means for me is that, it depicts the creatively of my own imagination. Or tries to, me, myself, I am not really of an art guy but I always try my best to at least show the effort I give into everything I do.

Ignite Presentation

Slide 1:

Slide 2: For Quarter 1, we had to create a website to display our resumé, featured projects and contact information. It was designated for colleges and possible jobs to make it.

Slide 3: The overall vision for my website was to just create something visually appealing and calming. I didn’t want the website to be cramped or extremely bright colors. I just wanted it to be peaceful and simple.

Slide 4: This was successful because I just believe it did that. It looks calming because of the light blues and the images of the sky that I have taken with my phone. Nothing is cluttered and everything is easy to read.

Slide 5: For Quarter 2, I choose the image editing project. The reason why I chose this project is because I believe that image editing was an interesting topic and I was always messing with digital art from time to time.

Slide 6: The overall vision was for there suppose to be a message for true beauty for oneself. I wanted someone to see how I portrayed or most so viewed beauty in my eyes.

Slide 7: I think this project was successful, if not my most successful project that I did. The reason why is because I just believe that everything came well together with the images that I used and I just loved the end result.

Slide 8: For Quarter 3, I chose the video editing project because I wanted to try making a video based on timelapse with what artists have done.

Slide 9: The overall vision for this project was to make everything seem comfortable and almost easy going. With videos like this, you want it to be simple with very little transitions so they focus on the art.

Slide 10: I think this project was okay because I believe that I could have done better, but by the time I wanna to start over, it was too late. I would want to start this over completely too.

Slide 11: I chose to revise the Quarter 3 project. The only thing I wanted to change was a video in the project because I thought something else would look better.

Slide 12: I chose this project because I honestly thought this was the easiest thing to change compared to the others. I had to think about something to draw for the new image and then I recorded myself doing it.

Slide 13: However, with the new video that I wanted to use, it made the video shorter. I wanted to have it to be longer than two minutes, not less.  So in all honest it just looks the same.

Slide 14:During this year, I think that my high point was the image editing project. The reason why is because I just really loved the outcome of the project because it was really my favorite project that I’ve done.

Slide 15:In area growth, I don’t think that I really growed in anything. I feel like I really didn’t improve that much at all. Maybe I improved a little in image editing but that’s it.

Slide 16:I could use image editing in a way to create digital for once. I could potentially make profit off of selling these art pieces for money that could benefit on the side for myself.

Slide 17:In all honesty, I thought of a project for image editing where you create an image that tells a story about yourself and the others have to guess whose it is.

Slide 18:Number one tip is to be on time for the checkpoints. If you don’t turn them in on time, your grade you gradually start to drop, so I would really stress about that to the next class.

Slide 19: Another tip would be to actually put some effort into their project because you can turn the checkpoint in on time but if your final project is trash, then don’t expect a perfect grade.

Slide 20: I honestly can’t think of another tip because I feel like the first one was the most important. I feel like that’s really the only thing that matters at this point so just follow the first tip.

Physics Project

We chose to do a cube for our project because at first we were thinking about a project that could be creative and fun.So we chose to do a cube because it’s three dimensional and the cube can have various of lights to make it colorful. Also, the cube could be made out of various of materials,so we can input the bulbs/lights. This cube will be made out of acrylic and will be done in the Maker’s Space.
-Brandon R. and Nydirah T.

Reflecting on our project it was fun figuring out ways to make a cube. But it was difficult figuring out how to make the lights lit. It was also difficult trying to make the acrylic in the Maker's Space , but at the end of the day we got it done.

The Electrik Artz: By Victor & Denali

Artists Statement:

Victor: This Sculpture represents us and SLA in many different ways. With its 3 floors and a rocket which represents us, The Rockets, it includes legos which also represents the stubborn people from SLA. We originally decided to us a rocket and cut holes on it for the lights, but it wouldn't be a rocket so we asked, "Why not make the whole SLA building where we can use the 2nd floor to hold our rocket?" This sculpture not only says that I am from SLA, it also says that I live in a community.

If you are wondering:

This is a parallel circuit which is why it is shining so bright.
