~Artist Statement~
The reason why we have pick out the sculpture we had made which was the “ Android” was because we thought it would be cool to do a thing that looks like a robot and we also decide to make it out of clay because we wanted it to be easy to make. We choose to make the “android” also because we both have android phone. #TEAMANDROID
What our sculpture says about us is that we both have android phones. Android phones help us out.
The Creeper!

The reason why I chose the Creeper head.
Artist statement:
For this physics project, we had to create an electric art piece, by creating or using whatever we want, that has a meaningful value to us. At first this was hard for me to choose, but then it came to me so clearly, I was going to make my sculpture out of a Creepers head from the video game Minecraft. The reason why I choose to use a Creepers head because it would be simple and easy to make, but the real reason why is because Minecraft is one of my most favorite games, and I take the game highly serious. The game is an online, or single player sandbox world, a sandbox world is a type of game where you can do or create anything you want, and it expands, so you can go to different places and do different things, how ever you like. The Creeper is a monster from the video game that only spawns at night, and if it sees you it will chase, and when it gets close to you it explodes, thus killing you in the game. There are also other terrifying monsters in the game. I chose to do the creeper because it is my favorite and also one of the most terrifying monsters, plus I just thought it be really cool to make a creeper head. This creeper head means alot to me because, I really love the game, I even consider the video game to be part of my life because I just really love it. The creeper represents my love for the video game and the mob itself, this game shows that I am also a huge fan of video games.
The Glow Up Microphone
The sculpture that we decided to do was a microphone. We both like music so we thought that a microphone would be a good representation for our love of music. We both agree that music is a big stress reliever for both of us. Music plays a big part in our lives also. In the end, this is why we decided to pick our art to be a microphone.

For our project, Shaelin and I built a model of a rocket and included a launching pad. Our original plan was to make a basketball, but we thought. This school has been so good to us throughout the year, so why not make a model of it? Well making a model of the school would take a little too much construction, also a few of our classmates already had that idea. So we decided to make a the symbol of our school. A rocket. Although we didn’t have all the supplies to make it look perfect and we aren’t very good artist, we made the best of what we could find and tried our hardest to make it look good.
On this project we created “THE ROCKET” is a unique bottled rocket with lights at the bottom. This rocket symbolizes our school mascot. It represents our school, That is the reason we created it. We also created this because we both would like to be engineers when we grow up and rockets involve a lot of engineering to build them so we’d like to make rockets later on.

We choose to make this sculpture because we both love to watch and play basketball. We both like playing sports and we wanted to do a sculpture that is off of a sport and since we like basketball so much we choose basketball. We also play video games that are basketball related like 2k.We was thinking of choosing football but we like basketball a lot better and we thought it would be more interesting if we did basketball because if we choose football we would just have drawn a football and that would have not be better then drawing a hoop and a basketball. This sculpture just says about us that we like sports and basketball is the sport we like most.
SLA beeber lighthouse by: Maddi and Haniah
Our partnership chose to make a replica of the Science Leadership Academy@Beeber building. Not only is it a great school, it’s where we will be building our futures. So we wanted to represent something important in our lives. In doing this project, it took time, energy, and dedication to create a pretty decent and sturdy model.
Physics Christmas Tree Sculpture
Artist statement
Shadiyah: This project is important to me because it is a fun, educational way to build a circuit including the resistors. Also, this project is important because it helps me understand about a circuit and the equations of a resistor and how to find the resistors in a circuit. One reason I did this project was because I wanted to add a challenge to building it while including bulbs, wires, a battery, and wire tape. Me and my partner built a Christmas tree. It is 11 inches with copper wire to build and wire tape to hold the pieces together.
Emanuel: This project is important to me because, not only did I have a fun way to practice using circuits, but I got to learn new things about how to connect circuits. Me and my partner built a modern style Christmas tree. Its about 11 inches tall and has to separate halves. The main structure is made of thick copper wire. We used wire tape to hold it all together. This sculpture is important and meaningful to me because it symbolizes one of my favorite holidays and I put a lot of thought into it.
#Unbothered
For this project we had to create an art piece in which we incorporate a circuit that will electrically light up, using one battery. So we (Amani and Aaliyah) came up with a “Hashtag Unbothered” theme. What is Hashtag Unbothered? Hashtag Unbothered is a very popular hashtag used on social media, especially twitter. The term is usually used with females and means showing or feeling a lack of concern about or interest in something. In our opinion, this project shows a lot about the both of us, because if its negative or against something I believe or care about I don’t feel the need to care. This also shows that we are very into social media which is why we are using very popular terminology. This shows that we are very creative with the idea. Lastly, this is one of Aaliyah’s favorite hashtags on the internet right now.
For the project we will use cardboard as our main piece. The hashtag part of the project will light up with light bulbs. We will have 6 bulbs that light up. First we will cut out and paint the piece of cardboard before writing out hash tag unbothered. Then we will figure out the placement of the bulbs and how the will would make it light up. Next we will begin to play around with lights until we were able to create a circuit that will be able to light up. We want to create a parallel circuit. After finding a way to light it we will put holes in the hashtag and that's where the lights will light up and be shown. Finally we will have to secure our circuit to the back of the project.

Light House
My partner and I decided to build a light house. We are doing this because the light house is a fun thing to build. We used recyclable materials such as, cardboard, lights, multimeter, 9V battery, wires, roll, and Gatorade bottle. We built a diagram to show the light bulbs current in ohms. After that we started to calculate the resistance so we can find the voltage/battery life in our battery. We used one one battery to power 4 light bulbs. The lights were equally bright. In conclusion the battery had the right power to light up all 4 bulbs.
This was a cool project for me to do and that’s why we decided to build a lighthouse. I also have seen lighthouses where i use to live and they're a very amazing thing to see and thought it would be great to make a sculpture. We didn't have the box/base we wanted, so we made a smaller version. Being taught how to use Ohm's Law really made this project easier.

Makyle & Tilly's Light up Air MAx
We chose this project because we wanted to see if we could make light up shoes. We wanted to see if it was possible to make light up shoes so we took a nike air-max sneaker and stuck lights through the inside of the shoe and through the bottom of the shoe. We had some trouble early on, but in the end, everything with the shoe turned out okay.
Shoes and sneakers are very important to us, so we wanted to choose something that connected to us personally. We decided to choose an older shoe, like the Air Max, because we weren’t comfortable with using a shoe that we currently wear. We’re glad we chose the Air Max sneaker, because we indeed took apart the shoe.
This physics project has increased our knowledge of physics, along with our creativity. At first, I, (Makyle), was in no desire to complete this project, but after completing it, I’m glad that we got the opportunity to show how much physics we know, along with showing how creative that we truly can be.
Autumn and Kemet's Christmas Tree & Gift
The Artist Statement
My physics project is a Christmas tree. I chose a Christmas tree because Christmas is a very special holiday to me. I look forward to this holiday every year, and it’s not just for the presents( that’s a plus). I just love having family time. My family usually gets together on almost every big holiday. When my family get’s together I feel happy and I’m in a much better mood. Last Christmas I spent my Christmas with my Grandparents because they are getting really old and my Grandfather has been sick. I had a blast there! We played Monopoly, ate delicious food, and just talked about how each one of us will end our year. In the Christmas scene project the message I am trying to convey is that you don’t need a lot of presents to have an Happy Holiday. That is why there is only one present under the tree, the real presents is the happy memories you make. A present can only last you some time, a happy memory can possibly last you a lifetime. This topic/theme shows that my favorite time is family time, this shows that life it not always what you receive but what you put out. In conclusion I would like to leave you with a quote by Thomas S.Monson.
This choker is important to me because it used to belong to my great great grandmother. I met my great great grandmother when I was four years old and she was such a funny person. I don’t remember too much but, I remember her telling me lots of jokes and I would crack up and laugh so hard (I don’t remember the joke). All I remember is laughing so hard that I made her laugh even harder than I was laughing. That was the only time I saw her. I only got to see her three times in my life but, that’s the only time I remember seeing her. This choker that I have belonged to her. She had this choker since she was my age. A few months ago I received this choker from my grandmother and she told me how this choker was my great great grandmothers. As soon as she told me it was from my great great grandmother I immediately remembered who she was. The reason this choker is so significant to me is because it belonged to my great great grandmother. She was very important to me. She lived to a very old age. The fact that I got to see her and that I remembered her shows how significant she was to me. I was only four years old when I saw her and that was a very long time ago and most kids don’t even remember a lot from that age. You never know when you might lose somebody close to you in your life. Even though me and my great great grandmother weren’t that close the significance of the choker resembles a piece of her. Every time I have it on it takes me back to the first and last time that I saw and met my great great grandmother. To conclude this choker is important to me because it resembles my great great grandmother and she was someone who was important and significant to me.
In conclusion we would like to say that we both love our family very much and we treasure the smiles, laughs, and happy memories of our family. Our project has an connection, Autumn’s project was about the love she has for her family and how she treasures the happy memories they share, Kemet’s projects is on receiving a present and how that one item she was given from her great great Grandmother, reminds her of the happy and treasured memories she shared with her. Both of our families are important and significant with another. These projects mean a lot to both of us, the message that is conveyed throughout each project is strong and meaningful. We treasure the memories because it’s the only thing that will last.

My Physics Circuit Project by Tania Crowell
Artist statement
I am interested in how the Solar System works and the retention between the planets. I chose to make the Solar System because I had a great idea on how to design it and relate to the Circuits Project. This project is personal to me because I'm part of the Solar System and the universe. This project is very educational because it demonstrates the relationship between the planets and sun. I feel my project also shows energy in the Solar System. In my project I wanted to make the sun thev main resource of light, life, and radiant energy.
Dazzling Pointe Shoe!
When constructing my sculpture, I chose the occurring theme of “dance”. I chose the theme of dance because it is my passion. Since I was about five years old , I was enrolled into dance school. But, my very first lesson was actually a ballet lesson. Which explains why I chose my sculpture to be a ballet pointe shoe. The pointe shoe represents several elements other than just dance itself. It also represents me. The pointe shoe represents how alive I feel when I put them on. When I perform, I feel like I am being shown in my nest light. So, I demonstrated this in my sculpture with an essential piece that helps me be shown in my “best light”.
light Bunny!!
I chose to use this bunny because i had this since i was like ten and it was like an imaginary friend to me when i was bored. And even though i am fifteen now i will still say this bunny mean a lot to me because it kind of encourages me in many different type of ways.
I will say that this shows that i’m a person who likes to be different because not all boys are likely to be seen with a bunny.

We chose to make a light up basketball and notebook. We chose to make this out of all things because we both are athletes. We also enjoy playing basketball a lot. We chose one another because we both have this hobby in common and many more things that we can relate. The basketball overall just symbolizes our athleticism and how much we enjoy basketball.
Chris:
I chose to use a sculpture of a basketball because basketball has been in my life ever since I could remember. For me basketball gets me out trouble and the streets. Basketball also helps calm me down. So basically these two reasons are the main reasons on why I chose to use a basketball sculpture.
Trey:
I choose to use a sculpture of a basketball that lights up because it basically explains my life without using words. Basketball and school are the two things in my life I put a true effort into to become better in school and increasing my skills on the court. I am a real student athlete and know that if I want to be something in life the books and studies are key if I ever want to even think of becoming a NBA star. I have a mutual respect for both being a student and being an athlete.
Stephanie and Mercedes: Electric Arts Project
Stephanie and I chose to do a phone case. We chose this because our phones are a major and significant part of our lives. We feel as though our phones represent us best. Without our phones, we would not be the same people we are. Overall, we felt as though a phone case would be best to do because it represents us.
In today’s society everything is pretty much electronic. Teenagers live on phones and computers, it’s a technological world. The main reason technology is such a big part of today’s society is because it’s a common and popular way of communication. Some teenagers do not have many friends, so they seek online friends. Some people’s families live far away and they can’t see them often so technology is a great way to still keep in contact with them. Using technology you can not only talk to them, but you can see their posts and pictures on social media sites. It makes you feel more involved with your family. Same thing with friends, they might live to far to see frequently but calling or texting them is a great way to keep in contact and maintain that friendship. Therefore, we chose a phone case because phones are a great communication tool and a big part in today’s society, especially with teenagers.
Another reason we chose a phone case as our project is because going on our phones is like going into another world. It’s pretty much a worry free zone for us. People like to listen to music and shut the world out when they are feeling down. Most people can express themselves better using technology rather than in real life. When we are on our phones, we don’t have to worry about anything and we can feel comfortable and just be ourselves. Teenagers usually have many things to stress about so our phones are like a stress reliever. We can feel safe and be ourselves when we use technology, specifically our phones. We chose to do a phone case because technology is a big part of today’s society and it’s a safe and worry free zone.Society's A Box by Kiersten and Iris
Electric Arts Project: Bright Glass
Alexus Tomlinson and Anaya Gomez
Artist Statement:
Alexus: I first got glasses in 3rd grade. At first I thought it was this cool thing to have. It made me unique and I felt like a superhero. But this idea didn’t last long, people started calling me four eyes and when I got braces people called me UGLY BETTY. I felt so bad and I want to get rid of my glasses but I still had to wear them. The bullying didn’t last super long anyway because other people got glasses too. Sooner or later I realized that soooo many people wear glasses they just don’t wear them. Wearing glasses has played a big part in shaping my personality.
Anaya: I chose to do a pair of glasses because i wear them everyday. I have been wearing glasses since I was in first grade. When I was younger I was scared to wear my glasses because i wasn't used to wearing them. As i got older i started accepting the fact that i have to wear glasses in order to see. Today I love the fact that I wear glasses and i'm happy that I do wear them. It makes me feel smart and different.
Our: We chose this sculpture because it reminded us of ourselves because we both wear glasses. Glasses are an important part of our character because it is apart of who we are and glasses can change the way a person perceives you. Glasses also shows that we are different. Not everyone wears glasses so this separates us from others.
