Think Before You post: Story of Amanda Todd

Think Before You post: Story of Amanda Todd

Amanda was on a meeting new people webcam website, and she was on there she met this guy. This guy convinced Amanda to pull her chest out on the webcam, and i'm guess he screenshotted it. The guy  kept making profiles on facebook that technically kept showing her chest and having everybody see it when every time she switched to a new school he would go under cover and make a new profile and add her as a friend. Then she put a video on youtube talking saying how she was getting bullied and blackmailed.  A little after a month after posting the video, Amanda hung herself in her home.

  • Immediacy- the way that immediacy plays into this  story is she just showed her chest to the guy that she didn’t know. Amanda knows she shouldn't had did it, but she did it anyways impulsively. Amanda  just did it because he was pressuring her to do, so she just hurried and did it.

  • Permanence- the way that this story shows permanence is when she posted the video which is was 4 years ago, and even though she died it’s still up there. That shows how if you put something on the internet it’s going to be permanent.

  • Lack Of Control- When Amanda showed the man her chest he probably screenshotted it, and Amanda had no control over where that picture went even though she didn’t know it was up there. Amanda still had no control over it when she died  and that's just a perfect example of lack of control she had no control over who had the picture or even where that picture went.

The effects of this situation with Amanda is that she showed her chest to a stranger on a webcam, and ended up getting bullied for showing her chest. My advice would just be Amanda should've never gotten on that website if she never would've got on the website with strangers then none of this would've never happened. My point is think before you just do something impulsively.

The big "Troll of the web"

Michael Brutsch is a 49 year old man who worked in Reddit, and went by the username of “violentacrez” . In 2008, Michael made the “jail bait”. The “jail bait” was a place where Michael put images of 14-year olds in bikinis. Although this was a big thing in the web, this wasn’t the worst that michael did. Later in his career, He made a subeditor called “creep shots”. "Creep shots" is a post in Reddit where people posted pictures of women in public, without telling or asking them for permission. All of Michael’s Negative blogs, plus his racist comments got him fired from Reddit, and gave him his nickname, “Troll of the web”. Now michael is 57 years old, and still holds the nickname “troll of the web”.

How does Immediacy, Lack of control, and Permanence play a role in Michael's life ?

The first thing that happened to michael was immediacy. I don’t know what he was doing when he created the “jailbait”subreddit, but, i’m sure he wasn’t thinking about immediacy. The minute that he clicked share, it was over. The whole world could see what he had posted . Now, that wasn’t the only thing that was immediate in his social media. The other big and immediate thing that happened to michael was the Lack Of Control in his social media. The minute that michael posted his comments and pictures in the reddit, it was automatically out of his control. The posts had now been copied and shared thousands of times, and there was nothing that michael could do about it. That’s how he got fired. It all started with the blog he made, “jail bait”, to the “creep shots”, and finally the racist comments to the jews. By then, he got fired and thousands of people started to recognize him not as “violentacrez”, the man who was the top blogger for Reddit, or the #1 worker for Reddit, but people are still recognizing him as the “troll of the web”. The biggest impact on michael’s life is still permanence. The problem with permanence is that it nevers leave the web. 50 years from now, if someone searches up the name; “Michael Brutsch” or “violentacrez”, his whole story is going to show up. Another major problem that has happened to Michael is that only the negative stuff pops-up when you search his name. This isn’t changing anymore. It’s there forever! Looking at the story of Michael Brutsch, iit is important that you always Think before you post.

"White Makes You Win"

This article has a negative effect on the people around us. In this was a cosmetics video featuring Cris Horwang and another model. They show a model with a very light skin-tone and then they slowly begin to show Cris appear in a darker skin-tone. It was like comparing a white and black person together. Then the narrator then says, "White makes you win" as to say that being white or a much lighter skin-tone is better. This may make others of a darker tone feel insecure about themselves. Immediacy- the video was sent out after edits and filming.

Link to the article: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/08/thai-advert-white-makes-you-win-skin-whitening-lambasted-for-racism

Another link: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/thai-company-pulls-ad-claimed-white-win-article-1.2489893

Permanence- They didn't delete it but they did apologize because it was racist and they didn't realize at first. Lack of Control- Once they uploaded it they couldn't control the comments and things that they got.

Amanda Todd Crucial Story

In this article, it’s a story about a girl in the 7th grade who was name Amanda Todd, who commit suicide from being blackmailed from a 36 year old dutch man. She was in a webcam watch by random strangers and she decided to flash to the webcam. An account name “Tyler Boo” decided to screenshot her flashing to the webcam. Tyler boo started to threatened her saying that if she doesn’t send him more pictures of her, he will expose those pictures to every person she knows and everyone in the world would see it.  Amanda refused to send him more pictures of her, so Tyler boo uploaded the pictures on a porn website and send the link to every Facebook friend she had. The next day when Amanda went to school she was know as the “girl in the picture”. She was slut shame and embarrassed. It was leading her to depression and anxiety. Later on Tyler boo went on and made a new fake Facebook page calling himself Austin Collins and connected to all of her new friends from her new school to make it seem like he went to Amanda’s school, the profile picture was of her flashing. She thought of an idea so she grab a black marker and white paper and made a video of her explaining her story on the paper and then posted it on YouTube, The whole world saw the video. On October 10th Amanda decided to take her life away in her mother’s house alone.

Immediacy: The lack of threats she got from the blackmailer cause her to have depression and suicide

Permanence: Well the pictures that Tyler boo had of Amanda he posted them everywhere and now the whole world can see them until today

Lack of Control: it led to the point where Amanda had no one to talk to so she took away her life since she was getting threat's by the same person.

If I would to give advice to Amanda and everyone else is to speak up and report it! Don’t take your life away, there are other solutions that can be handled in a different way.

My Color Wheel Project !

I chose this art piece I created because the original one I chose failed horribly. I kept messing up , and the more I messed up the more I got stressed. With all of my messing up I fell way behind. So I came to my senses to recreate an easier project. My overall visual of my project is that I made a basic color wheel clock. I think i’m doing a little better on this one since it’s basic , and i’m actually taking my time doing it. I expect honest comments because it will help me do better on the next benchmark. My current work relates to my previous work because for my previous work I also chose a difficult project to do , and ended up failing it. I just did a plain , simple, boring project, just to get a grade because I was so focused on doing the big creative one. My art fits into contemporary art because it is not too fancy , yet not too boring. It’s just easy and modern. My art also fits into the history of art because multiple people have created a wheel similar to mine just because its basic. A number of projects I do for painting , I always seem to come up with the better looking ones in my mind , but on paper it’s a different story. I always use hard ideas , when really all you have to do is think simple then when your done your outline that’s when you be extra creative. To come up with my original project I just googled some ideas, but for my final piece I just thought of an umbrella , but then my lines kept ended up being crooked , so I thought I should draw extra lines in the middle of the lines I already had to create more shapes and ended up liking the idea. An artist that influenced me was Georgia O’Keeffe. She influenced me to do my flower color wheel with all of the difficult shapes and the pretty light coats of paint. Another person that influenced me was my friend. I really liked how hers was turning out but didn’t wanna use the same idea so I spiced my up a bit adding the extra lines. A certain technique that is important is drawing very lightly drawing your outline just incase you dont like it and wanna erase it . When you draw too dark it’ll stain your paper. A technique that I learned while doing this project is when painting you do light painting first and then you do more paint just to get an even amount of paint onto your paper.

My Color Wheel Project

I chose lips for my color wheel project because I thought it would be more creative than everyone else just doing the basics of a circle. I made them really big because I've been told I have big lips unfortunately. I'm not saying the one's who did a circle weren't being creative I just wanted to do something more....complex. Overall, I really like my project. There are some disadvantages with me with this project but I honestly think I did a really good job at catching back up. I expect my audience to really like my project as much as i like it.
I think my current work has gotten better over the years of my previous work because last year I had no idea what I was doing. Now I'm more experienced with art and the criteria. The thing that inspired my art was..myself. I wanted to do something that was about me. I chose a flaw that I didn't like about myself and turned it into something beautiful. The artist that inspired me was Joan Mitchell. Her art is so fascinating because you can't say what it is or what it's not. It's complicated and that's how I look at myself. I'm complicated, that's why I like her art. A new thing I learned was that painting over paint numerous times can ruin the board. I learned that the hard way.
In conclusion, I really liked this art project. I think it fits me and I was influenced by Joan Mitchell. Her complicated art. I really expect my viewers to like my art because not only is it neat and colorful, it's also very creative.

Be Conscious, Think Before you Post!

Zarin Shyma

The woman who committed suicide after being accused

                               of Facebook  addiction

For this assignment, please find a story about an individual's use of social media (it can be a positive or negative use) and explain the story and the effects that this choice had on the individual's life or the life of others. Also, please explain how Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control played into the story and give the individual advice for their online life.

The Article  is about Sushma Goswami, She is a 24 years old Indian Graduated girl, when   she completed her graduation she Opened a Facebook account where she has more than thousand of followers. Now she spends her most of the time on social networking site. and the site quickly turned into an addiction as she started spending hours in front of her computer.  Which also affected her younger brother he also took a liking for it.  Spending time on social networking site also make them not to focus on their studies. And that's why they both raised the ire of their parents for neglecting their daily chores while doing little else beyond spending time online. In February 2014 Sushma became  so frustrated of her parent's objection for using social media and that's why she committed  suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.

The advice that I have for Sushma is that She shouldn’t  committed suicide because suicide never can be the solution of a problem. Bravely  and patiently facing the problem and tried to  find the solution of the problem can be the solution.

The Immediacy played into this article because Sushma’s  interest on social media causes  her to committed suicide.

Permanence played into this article because even though she past away but her Facebook ID will still be there because she didn’t delete her account.

Lack of control also played into this article  because now people can get her information, photos, status etc from her account because now she don’t have any control of it.

The Influence of the F-Word on Social Media with Rowan Blanchard.

Justina Thompson

Freshman Technology

October 27th, 2016

Mrs. Hertz

Actress, Writer, and Social Media Activist, Rowan Blanchard, has introduced a brand new, optimistic, strong-willed perspective on social interactions to a generation of adolescence that may impact our future usage and meaning of our online accounts, profiles, posts, and the content that we allow to be viewed by others by explaining the imperative nature of the ‘f’ word: Feminism.

Blanchard explains the effects of her confident choices and decisions on social media in the article, as well as how they have affected her, her friends/family, and the billions of young girls who admire her. She is active on almost every social media platform, including Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. But, she is acknowledged most for her official Instagram profile that obtains a whopping 4.6 million followers and 1,555 posts (as of November 1st, 2016.) However, she is not only well-recognized for the photos that comprise of her “feed” or “layout” on the application, but for the promising message that she is able to share consistently about the importance of Feminism and equality for the female gender. “I think it’s important for girls to recognize feminist issues because it directly affects them,” She told Entertainment Weekly at Instagram’s #MyStory initiative event. “It’s a difficult thing to speak out, but belonging to a sisterhood makes me feel like I have the power to speak my voice.”

Immediacy, Permanence, and Lack of Control play massive roles in Blanchard’s life. Immediacy, for example, is used as the most common attribute to her posts and commentary that she shares. The time that it takes for her followers and a great number of others to view her content is little to none, but as time gradually passes, the Permanence of the posts begin to spread. Prior examples of Permanence are placed in articles about Blanchard. Screenshots of the content that she posts can be used for public viewing or ideal samples of her outstanding commentary about the relevance of Feminism. Lack of Control is a final component to Blanchard’s social life. Although the feedback being given to her is positive for a larger part of time, there are negative responses. The adverse part of interaction with social media is that there is no way to control the opinion of others, regardless of the intention behind them. But, despite that, Blanchard handles pessimism quite well. In a past article, Rowan was chastised for not smiling in some of her Instagram photos. “I don't think people realize how rude and hurtful it can be to just see comments where people say ‘Are you depressed?’ I post on my Instagram what I like. If I want to smile, I will! Nothing more than that. I wish people would stop reading into things.” Explained the star via Twitter. From her graceful and mature behavior online and offline, Blanchard is a more than adequate representation of mindful social media usage for all ages and genders.

To summarize, social media can have an encouraging effect opposed to the ample majority of negative stories that are told and spread across the Internet, and can also be a tool for advocating critical and significant information. Rowan Blanchard continues her reign as a well-known social media figure in the public eye, and her actions go on to extend the message of Feminism and online etiquette to people of all ages, especially young girls. My advice to those who are using social media are to take Rowan Blanchard’s technique when using their online profiles. Approach the situation positively, consider things mindfully, and think about what you post before you post it to have a safe, healthy, and fun experience on the Internet.

Media and Design Project

For my project, I had to create make an online portfolio of my work and my résumé. When completing this project, I had to first think of a theme for my website. Once that was done, I was able to finish my About me page and soon the Résumé and Featured Projects came into onto the website and I got everything done really quick.I had to change the background multiple times for copyright reasons. Soon, I changed this into an image that I have taken instead of finding one through search engines.I learned how to navigate well through the website maker in an efficient time. I learned that I really like an artistic type style for myself and it reflected through my website.

I would probably do a different theme and play around with the controls, along with the other things that I can possibly do with the website provider I used. The reason why is because I would be able to create something better than what I have with more experience. I would tell other people to play around more with the different things available on the eix website because this was something that I simply didn’t do. I don’t believe that I was inspired quite much for this project, but I know that with this project, it made me wanting to express myself even more than I do now. All pictures and images were personally taken from myself for this website I have created. I believe my message on the homepage has really dictated the mediums for my website because I didn’t think much for the mediums until I figured out my message.

Color Wheel Project

I have created the color wheel because I felt that it would be easier for me to just do a regular circle but I wish that I was more creative in adding stuff to my circle to show some creativity in my project. My vision was to show that I can use tertiary colors, primary colors, and secondary colors for a color wheel. My main vision was to show that I can be very creative in a art project. Which is something I will bring to Quarter 2 project. I expect my audience to know that I at least tried to be very creative in my project and worked hard on it. I think they will say that my project is very nice and she worked hard on getting the right colors. My current work relates to my previous work because I’ve used different colors before to show my creativity.

My work fits in the creativity of current contemporary art. My work fits in with the history of art practice because in this time I am still learning how to do different art styles and how to paint. My work fits into a series of projects I have done because most of them involved being creative and for this project you could be very creative in what you do. How artists use colors to make a nice piece of art influences my images. I have been influenced by Vincent van Gogh because of the creativity he had put into his artworks. I have also been influenced by Pablo Picasso also because of his work. A certain technique is important to the work because it helps you get the right color you need to make your work. My technique is to make sure I mix the right amount of colors to create another color. This technique is important to the work because it is easier to get the right color also so that you don’t add too much of a color. This is also a technique I have learned in the process of making this work.

In conclusion, my piece was overall a good project but sometimes difficult to do because it was difficult getting the right color for tertiary colors and mixing them with white and getting the right color for that. But at the end I still tried my best. My artwork shows the hard work I put in to create it and how I used the colors to express the meaning of my piece.

Color Wheel Project

sakura

When thinking about doing this project I decided to make my color wheel out of a spider web because, I really like the design of the spider web. I also didn’t want to do a basic color wheel because other people were doing it.  My overall vision was to create a huge spider web with different sections to show the color wheel.  I expect my audience to see the difference between the tints and original colors. My current work relates to this color wheel project because in middle school I had did something similar to the color wheel. The only thing that was different about it was  that the paper we had to color had numbers on it that corresponding with the color.I think my work relates a little bit to contemporary art because when I looked up what it was I saw how the artwork was colorful and eye catching.

I think my color wheel would fit in with contemporary art because of how colorful it is. I don’t think my art work fits with anything really because, I never did anything like this before. But if it did fit into a category it would be contemporary art.  My inspiration came from google because I was looking up different ideas I could use to do a color wheel than a basic wheel .I wasn’t really influenced by any artist. I guess I was influenced by the different art I saw on google for the color wheel examples. A certain technique I used in my project was using a sharpie to go over the lines. I realized when doing this it made my artwork more defined. To me personally it made the colors really pop more. I learned that you can use only three primary colors to create so many other colors know as your secondary colors. I am very proud about the artwork I created because it is something new and I think it turned out really good.

Colorwheel

The art piece I chose to do was a color wheel of a eye with a certain background. I chose this piece because I thought that it would be interesting art piece and I wanted to see the outcome of it. When I finished the art piece I was very satisfied with the results I did not expect the piece to come out the way it did. Even though there was a number of people who chose to do an eye I still think mine was good to I did not really pay attention to anyone else's. I have always went all and out with my artwork on previous project but I do not think that I did that for this project but I will be sure to do that on the next one.

During the process of making this piece I had a few difficulties such as mixing the colors and how dark or light the colors would come out. I think that in the past there has been a lot of color wheel art that have become famous. This projects is not really similar to any other projects I have done in the past but it did come out good like other projects I have done in the past. The important techniques I used were time management, patience, and hard work. If I were to do this project again I would make sure that the colors are mixed well and make sure that before I start I have all of the materials I need to begin.

Color Wheel Project

I chose to make this because I wanted to further my understanding and use of colors. I wanted to make the project focused more on the colors than a design so I used up all of my available space. I expect the audience to think that it’s a basic practice color wheel so that I can become a better artist by trying new things and just making things. It fits in with contemporary art because it uses a sorts of colors and looks slick and modern. This fits in with art history because it shows how you need to practice with art as much as possible to be good.

I was influenced by an artist named Jason Polan because he uses very simplistic designs that look intentionally sloppy. Making the piece look sloppy is helpful because it allows me to show that perfect art doesn’t exist and allows me to remember not to get too caught up in making things look perfect. I experimented with intentionally messing up and not fixing it, I found this very helpful and I see myself doing so in the future. I really enjoyed making this color wheel and look forward to using the techniques and colors I learned while making this to help further my future work.

Amanda Todd Story

Amanda Todd was a teenage girl, who lived in Canada. She was talking online with someone she didn't know, and he convinced her to show him herself topless. The picture soon went viral. She was bullied and beating up by classmates, etc. One year she killed herself. Since she decided to share herself with someone she didn't know. Her picture was everywhere for everyone to see. This goes with lack of control because she didn't have control over the guy she was talking to sending the her picture to who ever he sent it to. Also she let a random man convince her to take the picture. It goes with permanence because her video and picture is still on the internet and still talked about. It go with immediacy because her video was viewed on Youtube, over 17 million times. I feel that if Amanda didn't share that picture with that man she would still be here today.

Lone Wolf

What you see before you is a wolf howling. My drawing was inspired by my love for this animal. Wolves are loyal and strong I highly value those two factors about them. Drawing a wolf was the first thing that came to mind when I found out about this project. It was pretty cool painting my drawing in 24 different colors. On my painting which you won’t find on any other there is a streak of red across my painting. That streak represents the anger and aggression in the wolf.

There is Black painted around the painting to give the wolf a final Shine. So all of the colors are made brighter and there is white left on the inside on the Wolf. Now about the red in the drawing it could be the blood of a person or another animal. Since wolves are natural predators. The blood could have come from a number of things. It makes the painting present a deeper story about the wolf and why it’s howling.

In my painting all of the tint colors lead away from the face of the wolf. All of the regular colors are in the front or closer to the face or on the face of the wolf.

I created the flower look for my color wheel because I felt like it fit best with the idea. A flower could have as many petals as I wanted to draw and it was simple. My overall vision for my wheel came out as I pictured it to be which was all of my color attached to my petals with a clear, solid color background so the my petals with color would pop out more. I expect my audience to be just as satisfied with my final product as much as I was. The color wheel project did not so much remind me of past art classes although, the creating and having my own idea did. Knowing each color and mixing them also reminded me of old work while learning these colors in the beginning of the semester.

I got the idea of my overall project from some ideas I seen online of color wheels. I learned while creating my wheel, having a steady hand and being careful with your paint brush plays a role because you don’t want your work to come out sloppy by not being careful or working slow. I learned to be careful, and dedicated to your work by creating my wheel. I also learned that art does not not always have to be perfect but it is dedication in what you put into the work you created.

Color wheel project

Creating this project, I knew my choices and variety of creativity had not limits. Although, I was inspired by the original color wheel, I liked the plane feel of it so my colors could stick out. To give my project my  name I wanted to add some originality to it by adding a solid black background and white splattered paint.. This gave my project an edgy feel.  While working, my routine/technique was to do the primary colors first then work on secondary colors because I knew since I had such a small space for painting I was bound to mess up.

What I learned is to not rush with not only my colors but my outlining with the sharpie.. I feel as though my outlining was quite sloppy and if I could give advice is to do the outlining after you paint your work. When looking at my work I think my peers will see something slightly different and maybe even pretty nice.. If my peers were to give me feedback, I know for a fact that their input would be that my outlining is sloppy, which I agree. Overall doing this project was not only fun but different. I enjoyed creating the colors and using my own perspective of what colors are.

Color Wheel

I created a star because i wanted to stand out from the people in my class and also challenge myself to see what I can do and what i'm capable off. My overall vision for my work was to make a start looking flower or a galaxy type picture. I expect my audience to see how hard i worked on my drawing even though it may not be perfect but to me it's imperfectly perfect. I always showed heart with my work and I always enjoyed what I do and to be able to show people my work brings joy cause i love making art to be able to teach and learn off of other people as well. My work fits into the current contemporary art because all artist start with a color wheel to understand the primary and secondary colors and to see the different colors that mix together. It goes with the history because colors wheels go way back and the most famous artist also use color wheels to help try out the different mix of colors and it helps them make their art seem balanced and well put together to make it come to life. It fits in well with my series of projects because they all represents me and how i express myself and it shows my strength and weaknesses. My artist that really influence me was Frida Kahlo because her art has create meaning in it and you're able to feel what she feels through her paintings and they send really strong messages in just a form of a drawing. Certain techniques that you need to have is to be really gentle with the brushes to make sure it doesn’t look a mess and just take your time and to have a small area where you can test the colors to make sure they are the exact one you want. Taking your time and checking to make sure you have the right color to me is the most important thing during this project. Long story short just have fun with the project and take your time and make it your own not something that everyone does.

Leafyishere

Leafyishere makes sarcastic content on Youtube. He often makes videos that offend people, but one video he posted offended even his biggest fans. This video was about a man who wears a fedora and go's around recording himself. In the video that Leafy was reacting to the man whose youtube name is TommyNC2010. In Leafyś video he makes fun of the man's weight appearance style and personality. He often does this in the other videos he makes but in this one he did not realize that the man in the video was autistic. Leafy quickly took down the video and apologized on his twitter. TommyNC2010 made response video. ⬇

                                                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24KRxVvQjAo

I think the main aspect that affected Leafyś video was immediacy. Leafy was not thinking when he posted the video and because of this he brought lots of hate on himself. Lack of control was also a big factor in this case because of how much this video blew up, I could not find out how many views Leafyś original video had but the response video that has over 4,000,000 views on Youtube. Permanence does not have too big of an affect on this situation because leafy's apology was accepted. Most people have forgotten about the incident.

There is a real problem with cyber bullying on Youtube that a lot of people think should be stopped. Leafyishere, Pyrocynical and many other Youtubers base their channel on satire content. I like many other people watch Leafy is here and Pyrocynical. I do think that Leafy’s  content is wrong and that some of his videos are a but to harsh but most of them are still funny. On the internet it is nearly impossible not to get bullied or yelled at. I am a frequent user of the internet and i know that something needs to be done about it.

2013 Boston Marathon bombings

This girl dressed up as a victim of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings before coming to work and tweeted about it to the whole world. Attempting to make a joke out of an event that left dozens injured, some fatally, is a guaranteed way to get yourself kicked out of any job.

This women’s choice affected individual's life because she made fun of peoples family, when dressing up as a victim of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. This lady could have really gotten hurt for dressing up that. Immediacy played a role in this because this lady just reminded the people family’s death and how tragic it was. Permanence played a role in this because that post will always be on the internet somewhere and can not be taken down. Lack of control played into the story because this lady thought it was funny to post something like that on the internet, and this is disrespectful to some people.

Think Before You Post

Source of my story :http://puresight.com/Real-Life-Stories/phoebe-prince.html

My story is on this girl named Phoebe. One day she got asked to a school dance by a senior, and she accepted his offer. Some girls got jealous because she was asked by a football senior. They started to cyber bully her and say horrible things to her. So the night before her winter dance she decided to hang herself.

The immediacy in this story is that they kept calling her names on social media and they wouldn't stop. This story permanence is that everything that they said on social media, was still on social media so anyone could see what was going on and agree or even disagree. Finally her lack of control was that their was no way for her to take any of it down because she didn't have control of their messages and she couldn't stop it. The only thing that came to her mind of stopping it was death.

I believe that if I was Phoebe I wouldn't have killed myself because of death. I wouldn't think that that's a way to solve anything, I would of informed an adult that can help me with this situation. If that didn't work I would ask them to stop. And if that didn't work either I would talk to someone who would be able to shut down the whole website. I watched a movie about a girl getting cyber bullied and she attempted to kill herself but luckily her friend stopped her and at the end of the story the people who where bullying her had left her alone after she got help. To me the moral of the story is to not kill yourself because people say rude things because anything that you do people will hate on you, so be yourself and have fun with your life.

Migdalia's Portfolio

My goal was to makes a fully operational website in which I could use for myself even after the assignment was finished. First I worked on my layout on each page with the default that my website engine gave me, in this case, wix. Then I replaced all the image and text that the website provided, with my own. Then changing all the buttons and options to go to the page in which I wanted it to go and lastly changing my background for my website. I did have a hard time because my information wouldn't always save and I had to re-do what I felt was enough, sometimes it didn’t exactly say what I wanted it to say since the beginning. I learned how links and pages work and realized how complicated it was to execute a certain aesthetic that you wanted to complete. I learned that in a website I look for a sleek and clean look so I know what I’m looking for but, if I had to change I would add more context to everything on my page. If anyones going to do this I advice them to constantly save where they are at so that they don’t lose something they worked hard on. This project moving on inspires me to keep it updated. The medium (wix) did not dictate my message because they have so many options I did whatever I wanted.

Alicia Ann Lynch, 22,  dressed for Halloween as a Boston Marathon bombing victim and sparked rage throughout twitter. She says her family has been subjected to death threats and was fired from her job. Lynch’s social media accounts, pulling out nude pics and a partial photo of her driver’s license, which included personal details such as her family’s address in Fairgrove, Mich. After death threats toward her parents and best friend Lynch stated “ She didn’t know what I was doing. My family didn’t know what I was doing. I don’t live with them. And they’re all getting dragged into this for something I did.”. The decision to wear the costume was “wrong,” Lynch said, but she thought it would be OK after she screened the idea with friends. Lynch had a message for her most extreme critics. “What I did may have been wrong, but is it truly right to wish harm upon someone and say that you’re doing it for the victims?” she said. “As being a part of a tragic event I never would ever wish what had happened to me upon someone else, as I can say most people wouldn’t wish death upon someone to ‘make it right.”

Immediacy : As soon as she posted her costume it immediately got negative feedback.

Permanence: After she posted it whether she deleted it or not it was still on the internet from people posting it on their social media.

Lack of control: After she posted it she lost all control of the picture. She couldn’t control the death threats toward her friends and family. She couldn’t control where the picture ended up or the comments.

Advice: Be more considerate of others and be mindful of what you wear and post. Maybe next time you could wear a costume that doesn’t offend others and doesn’t touch on sensitive subject such as the Boston Marathon bombing.

Demi Lovato Drawing Criticism

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3820393/Demi-Lovato-criticizes-fan-s-unrealistic-drawing-breasts-prompting-social-media-user-fire-ungrateful-star-body-shaming-version-illustration.html

This article states the criticism Demi Lovato had from social media after when she look at a drawing from Vladimir Serbanescu, a 17 year old Romanian depicting her as a topless mermaid. Besides giving a “positive” feedback to the artist, she stated that her "boobs" are unrealistic and her boobs are not the way they are and that’s not her body. Her "statement" was frowned upon by social media, calling it a rude statement. Many people did support her about her criticism of the drawing and how it's her body and it's her right to view her body the way she likes to. However the hate she also received was overwhelming. Many people who was against her, talked about her eating disorder also how she should be ashame of herself. Vladimir Serbanescu, the artist, felt ashamed and disappointed from her response. This in which, enrages the media more and abuses Demi Lovato more with insults and criticizing her.

“Immediacy” in Demi Lovato’s case is when she replied about her boobs and her body not looking like that to Vladimir Serbanescu drawing. It was instantly known by many who viewed the picture at that time. This soon got way out of control for Demi. Which leads to “Lack of Control”, it spread like a wildfire throughout the internet with many people screenshotting her response and sending to their friends or their own social media page like Facebook. With more people seeing her response, the hate grew too much for her with insults and abuse from the media. Even when that event was over, lots of people still know about it which goes for “Permanence”. Her wrong use of words caused many people to hate her which affected her a lot for her career and personal life. The advice I would give Demi Lovato, is to be mindful of the words you use. Yes, it’s your body and you have the right to view your body the way it is. However with the internet nowadays and how much hard work done to the drawing by Vladimir Serbanescu. You should give positive feedback next time and think before you post your response.
