Jumping to conclusions

Amy Joyner Francis was posting things on instagram and one of her classmates Trinity Carr saw her posts and thought she was talking about her so trinity got upset and she told her friends that amy posted something about her and they planned to jump her the next day of school they told her to wear sneakers they were posting on instagram telling her stuff and what to wear amy talked to her friends about the situation they told her to be careful she was trying to defuse the situation by talking to trinity about it but when she went to the bathroom they followed her and jumped her in the bathroom and they killed her in girls bathroom. After she died they were saying she was happy that they killed her on instagram and they should have left the situation alone knowing people were going to get mad about what she did and say mean things to them I feel like they blew it out of proportion they could have just left it alone instead of feeding into it and jumping her

Media and Design: Website Project

For my media and design class I was responsible for making a website. This website was to basically be a source which can tell you about myself. During the process of creating this website, my teacher broke down each part of the website into checkpoints. For this project I made sure that I met all of the requirements that each checkpoint needed. When making this website I was unsure on how exactly a website is supposed to be creating. I had to try so many buttons on the website maker just to see what I wanted to use. A big problem I had was figuring out how to turn a blank page into a page of my own. Due to me doing this project I learned that I can do whatever I want as long as I put effort into it. I learned this because when in media and design class I would look at others progress and compare our projects. When I noticed something that they did well but didn’t know how to do it I pushed myself into figuring out how to get it done. If I did this project over again I would use my class time more wisely. Since I played a sport a missed class some days so I should've just got to  work instead of communicating with others. If you plan on doing this project in the future I would suggestion having an idea of the theme you would like to use. Having this in mind will give you a better image in your head. This project inspired me to build a website for someone I know who owns a business.

Hope Witsell

             Hope Witsell

Hope Witsell was a 13 year old who grew up in Sundance, Florida. It all started in the Spring 2009, when Hope send a nude picture of her upper body to the boy she liked. Another girl borrowed his phone, found the image and forwarded it to students from six schools in the area. Before Hope could do anything about it the picture had gone viral. The photo made Hope a target. People would walk up to her and call her whore and slut. She hid her pain from her family. Online her friends said bullies writes horrible things about Hope, anonymous bullies created a Hope hater page to taunt her. In school, her friends formed a human shield because people would try to hit her or push her into the lockers. Her parents didn't know what was going on.

It was on a Saturday as school was starting, Hope helped her dad mow the lawn, ate dinner with her parents and then went upstairs to her room. Her parents turned on a TV show and when they finished watching the program, her Mom went upstairs to kiss her goodnight that went she found her. She screamed for her husband as she was putting her on the bed and doing CPR. It was too late, Hope was already dead. The 13 year old hung herself from her bed with her favorite scarves.

The day before she died, Hope met with a social worker at school. A spokesperson for the school said the social worker was concerned about her and that Hope may have been trying to harm herself. So, she had her signed a no-harm contract, in which Hope promise to speak to an adult if she was considering hurting herself. Her mom said she was never told about the contract, she found it crumpled in the garbage in Hope’s bedroom after she had died. The bullying was not over. After Hope’s suicide, her sister found more cruel comments posting on Hope’s Myspace page like, "Oh my god did she really kill herself, I can’t believe that whore did that." Obscene things written by children, Hope Witsell though it was only one way to escape it.

Immediacy: She didn’t think about what would have happened when she sent the picture to the boy, she just did it.

Permanence: Even if she made the boy delete it, it doesn’t matter because a lot of different kids have the picture and although she died people out there may still have the picture somewhere.

Lack of Control: Once the picture got out she can never get it back.

Advice: Even though she is dead, if she were still alive my advice will be don’t send out any obscene pictures, be careful who send pictures to.

2 racist girls

In 2012, after 2 minors, from Gainesville High school posted a racist rant video talking about black people, they kept getting death threats. A thing that one of the girls mentioned was ” You can understand what we are saying, our accents, we use actual words. Black people don’t.” They also mentioned that there is a difference between black people and “niggers.” That meaning that these two girls do not tolerate “niggers”, That they are not educated, keep having babies, can’t talk right, can’t get jobs, getting their welfare checks, food stamps, etc. And “black people” are educated, can talk right, etc. That video impacted them pretty bad because for one, they got kicked out of their own school, got death threats, one of the girls got depressed, the other girl’s mother said their lives changed completely and had to publicly apologize for their actions. After that the school wore orange, the color of racial tolerance, that week as a sign of solidarity.

Q1 Project: Website Design- Sakura

The purpose of this project was to create a website that showcases who I am. The project is supposed to include  3 pages. The pages you have to have on the website is an about me page. A page with your resume and a page project to show what you  completed inside or outside of school. For the process of this project we had to complete certain checkpoints throughout the quarter to check on what we have completed so far on the project. Some successes I had doing this project was completing each checkpoint on time.

During this project I have learned many things. I learned how to use animation and features on this website. When completing the project I learned a little bit about myself. I learned that,  I enjoy making websites, even though it frustrating at times. If I could do this project different I would have planned ahead of time what exactly I would have liked to have on my website so I can make it more visually appealing . If I could give someone tips on attempting this project it would be to plan/sketch out how you want your website to look and what you would want on your website. This project has inspired me to try new things because, I really don’t do anything outside of school. Also my website isn’t that interesting because I don’t do any curriculum activities. The message had dictated the medium because what I put on the page dictated how page design of it looked.

Adrien Broner Suicidal Threat's

About 3 weeks ago Adrien Broner made the worst mistake of his life. He decided to hop on social media and started saying he was going to kill himself. Now people will look at him different because of that. Even though he deleted it it’s always going to be remembered. I know that people screenshoted it. He shouldn’t have went on instagram and snapchat telling people what he was going to do. With his fan base people looked at it immediately and it was all over tv.  So now he has to deal with that because the pictures will always be around and all the interview clips are still going to be posted somewhere. Also the reason he was going to “kill himself” was over something so dumb

FouseyTube

FouseyTube

Fouseytube is a popular youtuber who has done things that he has later regretted and sometimes leaves the site because he gets hate. It started when the drama reporting channels became popular, Fouseytube kept preaching about drama being bad on youtube and I don't think he is wrong for thinking that but I do think it's wrong to keep saying it´s bad and then faking yourself getting punched causing more drama. After he got caught faking it he started saying that he faked it because he was trying to manipulate certain youtube channels but in the end it didn't work.

When Fouseytube was getting a lot of hate he had a fan that had brain cancer, when fouseytube heard about this fan he decided to fly to where the fan lived and visit him and help the kid and his family. But what was suspicious about it was when he did all this when he was getting hate from other people and that he was vlogging almost the whole time he was there with the fan. Most people thought he was using this kid just so he can not get hate, but I think he just did this at the wrong time and it looks like he was using this kid for attention when that probably his real intention.

When fouseytube got back home nothing happened (revolving him) for a week but on the second week he was back he started tweeting very weird things for example he tweeted: Martin luther king jr., and Tupac (he tweeted more names but these two names are the most important). After he tweeted this his fans started asking him why he tweeted these names But then he made a video about why he tweeted these names and in the video he says that he feels he is the Tupac of youtube, the second he made the video and uploaded it got so much hate and he was made fun of so quickly. This event isn't the worst but it was definitely a stupid thing to upload.

The next thing i'm going to talk about  took place at fouseytubes and romanatwoods tour where in the tour they went to a stage and fouseytube asked fans to go up to the stage and say something but when one of the fans came to the stage and said a name of youtuber that fousey really disliked and he kicked the fan off of the stage and after that tour was over about a month later he started tweeting very rude things to his to his fans.

As a result of all these events fouseytube has left youtube because he wanted to take a break from youtube and all its drama.

During my research I did not see much immediacy, for Permanence you can clearly find it in this man's social medias especially on youtube because he doesn't delete anything that will make him money (that's what I think at least) and people just like downloading and taking screenshots of people looking bad because that's how the internet is so ya fouseytube is not going to get what he wants out of the internet. Lack of control was also very easy to see in this guy's social media because everyone knows about what he has done and he can't do anything about it.

“A suicide story A 15-year-old girl from Ireland also committed suicide because of devastating ask.fm bullying. She was found in the woods near where she lived in September of 2012. Before she did so, she even told some of her friends about suicide since she was being bullied. She was told over and over that she was fat and that she had no respect for herself.”

https://nobullying.com/stories-of-7-teen-suicides-because-of-ask-fm-bullying/

The effects this had on the young girls life was her parents are probably broken hearted their little girl is not alive anymore. The comments probably influenced the girl to have low self esteem. The best thing she could have done was tell an adult, delete her account, make a new account, block the disrespectful users, or even make her page private. The suicidal incident could have been avoided if she took those options. The people that post hurtful comments have immediacy but the targeted girl has permanency because now people have the ability to label her as joke.

A local Philadelphia police woman was fired for posting racial slur on social media. She was then confronted and she apologized saying she's sorry and that offending people where not her intentions. Then what were her intention for posting something she very well knew she wasn't suppose to? Due to this she is now known as a racist amongst her community and to everyone who saw this. Maybe she wanted to send it to a couple of friends that wouldn't have a problem with it or thought it was funny, because of lack of control this spread worldwide from the local Philadelphia news to different states, eventually by people sharing it, to different countries.

My Website

My website is basically a blog page for anything. You can post what you want and stuff. During this project I got stuck a little bit because I couldn’t exactly figure out how I wanted my page to look, what it should be about or what the name should be. After a while I came up with a website where you can just post what you want quickly and that’s How I got the name “quickpost” for my website. After completing the project, I learned how to work and manage website builder . If I were to do this project all over again I would make my homepage make more sense because it’s a little confusing. I’m not really inspired by this project to do anything. I chose the theme first and then I wrote on it, the theme didn’t really change what I had to say.

My Website Q1 Media and Design

Basically my whole project was about me,the things I love to do and the things I accomplished as a student. What I hoped to learn through creating this website, was to just get the experience of making a website just for me to let someone know a little bit more about me.The process for this project actually wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.When I look at all the websites that I go on it seemed to me that it took a long time to make them look so nice well organized but for me it didn’t really take long.A success that I had doing this project was that it turned out how I really wanted it to.But a failure was that some things were taking a long time to upload so that set me back a checkpoint because i wasn’t finished. What I learned about myself through the completion of this project is that even when things don’t work you have to find other ways to do what you have to do.Throughout this project I had a lot of computer problems and on top of that my website wasn’t working, but I had to use the other resources I had to make sure the project was finished on time. The only thing I would change if I were to do the project again is to make it more creative because I know that I could’ve added more information about me.I do believe that my message dictates my medium.I chose a theme and went off of the theme that I chose. But overall I think I did a good job on my website and it was fun.

My website

My project was the history of gaming and I also like gaming so I thought that I would mix it with my history so far. I hope that people will come to my site that it. Something that I learned while going through the process of making my website is how to link and give credit to those whose work that I have used to show certain some history of how gaming came to be. I started off my site by giving little information about  myself which could lead people to want to know about me and after that, I started to give some facts about why people play games. During the process of my project, I noticed that in some areas I may have seen that I made little mistakes such as not spelling some words right and not upper casing my I and little things like that. Also, I encountered that some things like having to get rid of things that I liked to better inform people about me ,but I think that it was worth it. One thing that I ended up learning was that I have to make it clear for whoever may be visiting my site what I am trying to show when they see the home page so for me my topic was gaming so at the start I showed using an image that it is going to be about games. I learned that it is ok for me to talk about things that other people have a similar interest in. So something I thought about while doing this project is that I would change it but why it's because there are some things that I wanted to add but either didn't have enough spaces or disregarded what I was thinking. If you are going to make a website I think that your should really plan out on what you're going to do because if you don't and you go in and try to do some things but then change your mind you may have to either start over or take some stuff out. Well, the thing that gave me the idea is the fact that I love playing games and I thought to myself what if I just make it about games because I enjoy games and so do most other people. For citation, I gave all credit where it was due for both the videos.

For this project I used the site WIX.COM to make a website. I used this website because I loved the formatting and background of it. I was able to have moving backgrounds for each page. I used my time wisely and I worked better home where I could stay focused. While completing it I was hoping could learn how to use my time wisely, and also put together information that could benefit me in my future life. Since I had a long page to to scroll down I had to re organize it into pages so that people would not be just scrolling down the project the whole way. I had taken my time to revise and edit the pages so that they can look nice. I ended up learning how to create and start over from failure without having extra time and finishing it by the deadline. If I did this project over I would have made the pages separate and write down what I wanted to put on each page so that I can just put up what I wrote down on the paper. A tip would to be to plan what you want on the different pages because it could save you a lot of time. This project inspire me to advertise out to people who had an interest in making a website and that think it is hard because if you just take your time to plan out everything it will take no longer that 3 days. The mediate dedicated the message.

Website Design

This website that I created was made to let people know a little bit more about me. It took me about 2 weeks to create and I enjoyed making it. I'm not very artistic, so creating a design was a struggle for me but I still came up with something. Hopefully after someone goes onto my page they'll learn something about me and it will inspire them to make a website as well.

Well my project is about my whole life for example it had my resume page and had an about me page and a project page. my goal is to get an A and I learned a lot about website design. I had a good process but I got behind because of my absence. I had neither. I learned how to design a website and what it should look like and shouldn’t look like. I learned that I actually like going on trips then I thought Just be more focused and on task and be creative and neat. This project inspired me to go back and take some better photos and do ziplining again. I was dictating the medium because I choose how the background would look by the words on the website.

My Website for Media and Design

In my project, I created a website that basically talks a little about me and  my life. My hope was to create a nice looking website and I did create that. In order to complete my project, I had to make an account for Weebly so I could make the website. After that, I started building my website with the pages that we had to have (home, about me, resume, and project). I completed the project with only one “half” failure. When I was trying to upload my resume onto the website, it was taking too long to load but I waited till it eventually uploaded. I learned how to make a website, something I didn’t do before. I have wondered how website were created and I didn’t think it was this easy.I learned that I could do something I never did before and that was create a website. I didn’t think I would have to create a website, but I did. If I were to do this project over again, I would chose a different background for the website and I would be more descriptive on the pages. Some tips would be to take your time when building your site, make sure that all your pages are finished, and proofread the pages. I chose my theme first and wrote on the different pages. My theme didn’t change when I wrote on the pages. This project inspired me used perhaps make another website that I could use in the future for professional purpose.

Russian teens harm animals on video

In this article, a Russian teenage girl films herself killing animals with her friend, and puts the videos on social media. Along with posting these horrible videos, she also said online that she planned on killing her mother. Supposedly, they adopted animals no one wanted and swore to take care of the animals, but instead they filmed themselves murdering innocent animals to post the videos online. In result to the videos becoming viral across multiple social media outlets, the two teenagers were arrested.

The choices they made will forever haunt those girls; if they aren't in prison their names and faces will forever to be tied to slaughtering animals, which links into the seriousness of how permanence plays into whatever you post online. In relation to immediacy one instagram picture seems to be from this month, (I had to guess, I couldn’t translate the date.) Which is a great example of how fast it takes for a single social media post to blow up. As for lack of control, I don’t think these girls even thought of that. Surly they were aware that anyone could see what they posted, the one girl’s instagram wasn’t even on private. Most likely they didn’t think it through, or maybe they didn't understand how serious the situation was.

The only advice I could give to these girls is the following; If you are feeling that emotionally unstable then you need to get help. Talk to an adult, get a therapist, find a positive outlet that doesn’t hurt anyone/anything. Instead of creating such a negative image for yourself, do something amazing. Although my  advice might not be helpful because of how serious this case is,  I still really believe that more people should strive to be an amazing person.

Q1 Tech Project

Article:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3689780/Playboy-model-Dani-Mathers-sparks-furious-backlash-body-shaming-naked-woman-Snapchat.html

Headline of Article:

‘If I can't unsee this then you can't either!' Playboy model Dani Mathers sparks a huge backlash after body shaming a naked woman in the gym showers on Snapchat.

Model Dani Mathers body shamed a woman taking a shower at the gym and put pictures of her doing so on Snapchat and captioned them “If I can’t unsee this, you can’t either”. Apparently, the photos she took body shaming the women were supposed to be used in a private conversation and shared with one person. After she posted the pictures to her thousands of followers, she was called out for body shaming and sued by the woman she body shamed. She immediately apologized for her actions after being bashed on social media by millions of people.

Her actions have had a major impact on her reputation and how people see her as a person. People that have not known her before this incident have had a horrible first impression about her. The story and the images are still circulating around the internet and she cannot remove them because the pictures have been screenshotted, saved, reposted, and shared around the globe. This has to deal with lack of control, when you post something, you have to be mindful what you post because it can be shared in an instant and you cannot control what happens to your post and what people do with it. It technically will never be deleted.

When she posted those pictures to social media, she couldn’t undo it. This has to deal with permanence. What she posted would never be erased and whatever she did on the internet is permanent and will circulate around on the web forever.

People started sharing, reposting ,and screenshotting the photos that the model took immediately after she shared those pictures. This is how the person she took the photos of eventually found out about the photos that were taken of her. This has to deal with Immediacy . Immediately after you post something, people are already viewing it and sharing it with others.

My advice for what Dani Mathers on what she should have done during that situation would be that she could’ve kept her thoughts to herself. It was not necessary for her to put her negative thoughts about another person on social media. Especially if it’s negative or hurtful because that can lower people’s self confidence and cause them to harm themselves.

The Story of Justine Sacco

There are a lot of occurring internet controversy when it come to posting on social media, especially when in the hands of teenagers. Due to the lack of control when posting, teenagers tend to post offensive self-opinions and highly inappropriate content that goes beyond restrictive internet policies.  However, it is not only teenagers posting irresponsibly. Sometimes even adults go past restricted limitations of internet usage.

In the story of women named Justine Sacco who is thirty years old, Justine herself, supposedly tweeted out a racist comment that stated the following: “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get aids. Just kidding. I’m white!”.  This caused a never ending stream of hatred by offended people to rise against her. The hate that came with the comment lead up to Justine potentially losing her job as a senior director of corporate communications at IAC. Not only did this tweet offended people, there were numerous other tweets from her that affected both her reputation and career.

After the immediacy of her comment took effect on being spread all around social media, Justine’s friend, Hannah, was suffering from the lack of control as hashtags and retweets started being were posted nonstop. Lack of control gave Hannah the inability to delete the racist comments. And finally, permanece ensured that the tweet would never simply go away, Which meant that it was too late for Justine.

It was too late for her to regain her reputation and career from what she had incoherently tweeted. To ensure that something similar to this never occurs again I would her advice that mainly consisted online life behaviors. My advice would be: Give the thought of how others might feel before posting, because life is also lived through the internet.

#MyNYPD

In 2014 the New York Police Department wanted to have some good publicity, so they went on their twitter, @NYPDnews, and posted a tweet,  “Do you have a photo w/ a member of the NYPD? Tweet us and tag it #MyNYPD. It may be featured on our facebook.” They wanted people to post pictures of them with someone from the police department. The intentions the department had went really bad. People started to post negative pictures of the NYPD. In some of the pictures that were posted, the police were pulling hair, hitting people with the batons, choking people and even running them over. If the police all over would do more positive things with the community maybe people wouldn’t look at them as abusers. If you want to have people post pictures make sure you have more positive than negative.

Think Before you Post

Think Before You Post

By: Adam Dublin

Jessica Logan,an 18 year old senior from Sycamore High school sent nudes to her boyfriend, but the photos were sent to hundreds of teenagers in at least seven Cincinnati area schools after they broke up.The bullying continued throughout  all types of social media such as Myspace Facebook and text messaging. She then committed suicide by hanging herself after attending the funeral of another kid who had recently committed suicide.

Lack of control is theme of the story because as soon as she sended those nude explicit pictures to her boyfriend she had no control over what he did with them, whether or not he sent them to others or anything else she had no control over what he could or would do with those images. She should have thought more deeply about who she sent her personal photos to or who she could trust with those photos.

https://nobullying.com/six-unforgettable-cyber-bullying-cases/

Think before you post

This was a very sad and negative story where there is a huge privacy issue. The story is that a gay male (tyler clemson) was having male company at his Rutgers dorm but, since his roommate was not gay he warned the roommate that he was having company. Since the roommate disliked the gay male the roommate decided to record this and take photos. This happen multiple times and Tyler complained multiple times, and begged for a new room. One night Tyler said once again that he was having company. The roommate went to record this session like usual but this time Tyler was having sex in the dorm. The roommate posted the video that night. Tyler committed suicide that morning.   "The roommate was sentenced to 30 days in jail by a New Jersey judge for spying on Clementi. In addition to his 30-day jail sentence, Ravi was also sentenced to 3 years probation, ordered to complete 300 hours of community service and attend counseling programs for cyber bullying and alternative lifestyles." This shows
-lack of control-where Clementi could not delete  these pictures and videos.

Donald Sterling was the owner of the Los Angeles clippers since 1981. But in 2014 there was video leakage of him saying racist remarks against black people. The leakage spread fast and became top stories on sports networks. Donald Sterling could not stop it from spreading either. It seemed that the video of him was on every website. This was an example of lack of control because he couldn't control how much it spread.

To this day, if you went on the internet and looked up the Donald Sterling scandal, you can still find the video. Nothing he can do can take the video off the websites. This shows how permanence played into him. His reputation is forever ruined because it's always going to be online.

He couldn't stop it from being posted because it happened too fast. He never would expected his life to be ruined too fast but that's what happened. Immediacy played a huge role in this because he could have stopped it before it went online if immediacy was not a problem.

This whole scandal banned him from any NBA game. Also, he had to give the NBA 2.5million because of his comments. Lastly he had to sell the clippers for 2 billion so he lost his whole franchise. All this because of some comments he thought nobody would hear.

Think Before You Post

Article:http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2016/10/05/offensive-memes-can-lead-to-jail-time-under-indonesia-cyberbullying-laws/
The article tells about when Indonesian government has arrested people for “offencive” internet memes. The country in 2008 law restricted against people who post about texts, pictures and etc.  I think that social media is for a negative use. I back this up by saying that some post can harm others and offend people. In the article tells about how the Indonesian had to set a law to the citizens to post on social media of text, picture, videos and memes. These show about “Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control.” For Immediacy is the will of posting the pictures the videos and memes. Then thereś the Permanence of these post like when you post the picture or texts it´s out there for anyone to see. Last but least is Lack of Control this shows about the controlness of how big or small your post could be than it could turn that it could be bad and people will make fun of you. If I were one of those people who posted these rude remarks to the Indonesian government this could be on your record that you posted these things. The article says you could get a punishment of 12 years in prison because of these post.
