Caffeine Elimination Project 2016-17

Analysis of Caffeine Consumption

Have you ever wondered exactly at what rate caffeine will leave the body, and to what extent will we feel it’s effects? How long it takes for there to be nearly no caffeine left in the body? How long it would take for the amount of caffeine to make no difference to the body? Caffeine is primarily used as a stimulant for consumption in commercial drinks and very few food items. You can find caffeine in many things you consume every day, like tea, soda, coffee, energy drinks, and even chocolate. We have observed that caffeine is eliminated by the body at a rate of 13%/hour. For example; if you have 100mg of caffeine in your body, after 1 hour there will be 87mg of caffeine left in the body. This is an example of exponential decay; this is where decay can be observed by a percentage rather than an amount. This is important because this makes the decay in the beginning in the hour as an amount larger than the amount of decay in the end as milligrams in this case. This also forms an asymptote. This is where the amount can mathematically never reach 0, this is because there is always room to remove a percentage of a total amount, even if the starting amount or the answer are not even measurable by an computer. Even there is no way to get rid of the caffeine, our body can’t feel the affects of this after caffeine count becomes less than 32 mg. So on average it is best to stop drinking caffeine 4-5 hours before you go to bed. This depends greatly on the drink you have and how much caffeine it has, but 4 to 5 hours is a safe time before you go to bed so that the caffeine in your body will be at most considered a minor stimulant.

Analysis of the graph and equations

This kind of graph is called a piece-wise graph. This is where the function changes, making the graph “jump” from, in this case, one y-value to another. This piece-wise only shifts on the y-axis because x is representative of time, which can’t be skipped or altered. “x=32” represents where caffeine would no longer affect the body at all. “16≤x≤27” shows where I slept, from 10 o’clock pm to 9 o’clock am (I was tired okay?). The functions themselves are in a specific format; y=a(b)x. In an example of the equations that I had it would be; y=90(.87)(x-1). In this case, “90” represents the amount of caffeine I started off with after drinking the first drink. “(.87)” is the multiplier, it’s the difference of the removal of the the 13% from each hour. “(x-1)” represents the exponent that is the number of hours minus the difference from the starting hour (6 o’clock am on the first day).

Exponential decay is when a group of something starts to decline over the total value that decreases over a constant rate of time. The larger he decay is the more the quantity vanish more rapidly in the graph.
The blue domain area represents the time I went to sleep during the two days the caffeine research was getting recorded. I went to sleep at 10:00pm and woke up 7:00am. You can see the I had intakes some caffeine before I went to sleep and you can see how the caffeine in my body was decreasing each hour.
Some key features you could see is that in this seven-piece wise functions, no matter how much caffeine I intake over the time, it will never go over the initial amount I started out with. Meaning I didn't consume anything that would be enough to go pass 250.
Based on my research, I say that you shouldn't drink caffeine or limit yourself once you know how much the stimulant of it can affect you.  It takes only 32mg to 200mg for caffeine to cause a minor stimulant. Someone can have just 80mg and can absorb it as a major assumption while others may not. People should know their limit with people and their amount of caffeine that they can do.
Caffeine in your body will be eliminated 13% per hour. All of the equations in this research used this percentage to create this exponential decay. Every time you intake some more caffeine, the amount of caffeine will get larger and start to decay again from this new amount.

Moon and Stars

IMG_4109

For this project, I decided to re-create the linoleum outline. I had the outer of my picture all white and then traced for the rest to be covered with black ink. I used stars and the moon because to me they are very peaceful and have a bigger meaning to me than just a moon and stars. Although this project was fun doing I can say it was hard. I had trial and error a few times until I was satisfied with what my results were.

From beginning to end, this project has really made an impact on me and the way I view art. The most complicated part was actually carving out my picture, I had gotten a cut from the way I was doing it the first time but I got some help from a peer and got right back on track. Transferring the ink and getting it how I wanted it was quit easy and fun although It took a couple tries.  What I greatly enjoyed was rolling the ink onto my canvas, it was fun and a unique way to show the art that I had made. If there is something that I would change about the project it would be the way I used my time, your work really reflects on effort and I feel like you can see that with my project. If I could go back I would use my time more easily and get advice from more advanced people to make sure my project has a chance at meeting expectations.

The reason why I choose to this project in particular is because the uniqueness of the way it had to be put together is what caught my eye.

Jada's artwork

I created this specific picture because I figured an elephat head would be the best way to insert my texture and lines into my drawing. I hoped to achieve a culture look in my drawing with lines and different designs. I hope my work lets the viewer know that I worked hard for on it and the look I was achieving. I achieved the look I wanted for this project and getting my project done on time like I planned. I first started my project off with a rough draft of my elephant head with a pencil and went over with my final utensils which was a pen. I made sure all my different designs in my drawing werent the same, and where unique. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do for my texture&lines drawing so I looked up images on google and wasn inspired by a specific elephant drawing I came across, so I tried to get an idea from that (). I feel the pen I used was technique to the work because the thiness of it made my designs in my drawing more unique and neat. A new technique I learned while creating this project was to make sure your drawing is always rough before you start it.

While doing this project I learned to always work hard on your work but to take your time while doing it. This project made me realize to never wait last minute and to work just as hard on it as if it were any other project. I enjoyed creating my peice although if I could go back to chose another idea I would.

Algebra 2: Caffeine Benchmark

Introduction

Do you drink coffee every morning? Do you like drinking soda? Did you ever wonder how much caffeine you consume in a 48-hour period? Have you ever wondered how caffeine can affect your body?  Do you ever wonder what happens to the caffeine after it’s been in your body for a few hours?  If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions then continue reading to find out how caffeine affects your body!

Caffeine is a drug that stimulates the central nervous system, to make us more alert. Caffeine can be found in drinks, such as coffee, ice tea, and soda. It is also found in chocolate, and some gum! Everyday people take in amounts of caffeine (mg). Your body starts feeling effects of the caffeine between 32-200 mg. Your body starts to eliminate 13% of the caffeine you intake each hour!

For example, I recorded six entries of the amount of caffeine that I consumed in a 48-period starting at 6:00 am.  I gathered all my information and got the following results in the table below

Explanation & Work:
Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.42.15 PM
Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.42.15 PM

Caffeine doesn’t leave your body immediately, it takes hours to get rid of caffeine in your body, but in the table above you can see that I consumed more caffeine each time I drank something, you may ask how much caffeine is in your body each time you drink a new caffeinated drink? To figure this out we use exponential functions! Exponential functions are functions that have a constant rate of change, we use the following equation to solve these functions: y=abx .  A is the initial change, b is the ratio of change. Caffeine is an example of exponential decay because it’s decreasing as a constant rate.

The following table shows  how much caffeine was in my body each time I drank a new caffeinated drink:
Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.51.33 PM
Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.51.33 PM

As you can see I used the exponential equation each time I consumed caffeine. For each new equation the ratio of change is 0.87 because that’s how much caffeine is left in your body in each hour (13% of caffeine leaves your body every hour). The exponent in the equation I subtracted the number of hours since the start of the day by T (x). I used the curly brackets to show how much caffeine decreased each time I drank something, to show when it stopped.

Equations:

Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.57.31 PM
The graph shows each time I consumed caffeine and how long it stays in my body, and also when I sleep (highlighted part), and when I am awake.
Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.56.31 PM
Screenshot 2017-01-18 at 5.56.31 PM
Should you stop drinking caffeine? The answer is no, but you should stop drinking caffeine after 200 mg because it can affect your sleeping, brain and other parts of your body. The average person should stop drinking caffeine 6 hours before they go to bed to let the caffeine leave their body. The best time to drink caffeine is in the morning or during the day to give it time to leave your body.

Rocky's Artwork

I have created an avocado because I felt that drawing food would have been an easy thing to draw. I was hoping to achieve to make a drawing that would represent what I love to do and what my vision is. I think it communicates with color to the viewer because the colors make my drawing pop out. I think I achieved making the seed of the avocado 3-dimensional. I think I also achieved with using my colors appropriately and in a useful way. My current work relates to my previous work because of the 3-dimensional use of shapes and the use of colors. One example of a piece of contemporary art that compares to my art is Adam Belt. Because of his use of shapes and texture to make his drawing and sculptures.

A process I used to create my work was I first searched a fruit that seemed easy to me to draw. Then, I drew the avocado to see how it would then after that I started to analyze my colors to see how I could use them. After that whole process, I realized that my avocado could turn out like how I wanted it to turn out. One source that inspired my work is Adam Belt. https://www.artsy.net/artist/adam-belt-1 On this link it shows his work and the use of shapes, texture, and use of definition in his work. This really inspired me to create this avocado. My work reflects the world I live in because it expresses the creativity that happens in today’s society. It reflects my life because it shows how hard I’ve worked on it. It reflects my experiences because in the drawing you can see that I used some of the stuff I have learned. My work can influence the world by just seeing how hard I’ve worked and tried to create the painting can influence others to try. A certain technique is important to the work because it can help you to get a good feel out of creating the work. For example, detailing, glazing, palette knife, etc. These techniques are helpful in making your piece of art. A technique that I learned is palette knife. I experimented with color mixing techniques which is what I used to make the colors for my drawing.

In conclusion, I used a lot of ways to show what I was aiming for in making this piece of art. I know it’s not the best painting but I want people to know how hard I worked on this painting. I hope that everybody enjoys.

Bright flower , In A Dark World

In my linoleum prints, I explore line and light and shadow. Everyday objects inspire me whether it is a teapot, cup and saucer, or the flowers in a garden or just random heart pictures. I chose to create the linoleum cut project because it seemed easy , and very detailed by using simple steps and stencils. I was hoping to achieve a different way to create and print in a different type of way instead of the old fashioned way. Nobody likes being boring ,they like exploring new things. I think my work communicates with the viewer because the viewer can see the painting how I viewed it. I viewed it as if it was a bright strong flower in a dark world, where no one was like her, and she wasn’t afraid to stand out. Working on this project I achieved how to think smaller , and basic first and then work my way up to the top to achieve a great art project. My current work relates to my previous work because I always end choosing basic art pieces that are difficult , or difficult art pieces that I cannot do and ill fall behind, but for this one I thought simple , and my backstory bigger. My work fits in with contemporary art because contemporary art is art that has been created and continues to be created during our lifetimes. With linoleum cut , anybody could have the same one as me , as long as they do their outlining the same, or they carve the middle then it would be different because the background would be white instead of black. The process of creating this project was First I chose a difficult flower to draw but I couldn’t draw it smaller onto the linoleum board , so I had to choose a much smaller one that’s simple. So I figured since the flower is basic i’ll make the meaning unique. And that’s what I did. After I drew my flower on the board , I outlined what I wanted to be black and what I wanted to be white. So the inside of my flower is white while the outside is black , So for mine I Had to carve along the black lines or around

Mixed Medium Lake

I chose this project because I liked that it gave me the freedom to make any kind of artwork that I chose to do and mesh it with other mediums. I decided to make a painting of a mountain lake with a 3D canoe floating in the water. I would hope that my work would give its audience a stress-free relaxing feeling like they were on a summer vacation in the mountains. It really has to do a lot with me too because of how often I go camping in the mountains. This is my first piece that incorporates wood carving and I am really proud that I was able to pull it off. I think that this piece could fit into Philly’s street art scene, at first glance it may not seem like it but it takes elements from artists like Aubrie Costello and Low Level who inspire me with their use of 3D objects in their installs. I hope that this piece can impact the world with driving more people to decide to take up art and I really hope that it does.

Mixed Media Art

Image-1
Image-1

I created this artwork because I wanted to work with three different types of material.  I was able to work with paint, mod podge, and crayons. My overall vision for my work was to create a portrait of a young girl with the background of the important news articles. I think my work communicates positive and good vibes to the viewer. I think I achieved a very unique look through this creation of this work. My current work relates to one of my previous artwork was when I once created did a mod podge with a balloon to create an mask. An example of an artist or work of art that fits with contemporary art  is a portrait by Zak Prekop. He creates paintings with the illusion of light and depth.  Starting off the project i had to cut multiple pieces of new articles which would be use to my background of the portrait. Also, then drawing an outline of drawing and figure out the spacing. I began with the background with the mod podge because that  was the most time consuming part. Then, painted the outline of the girl, her clothing, and face.  FInally, colored her hair in with black crayon.  My inspiration for my image came from https://www.google.com/search?q=mixed+media+art&rlz=1CADEAC_enUS715US715&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=655&tbm=isch&imgil=UQgTxXvtrJyUvM%253A%253Btd9JbW_ivrUs5M%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.pinterest.com%25252Fexplore%25252Fmixed-media-art%25252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=UQgTxXvtrJyUvM%253A%252Ctd9JbW_ivrUs5M%252C_&usg=__XWrsCcUwBBIii6CJfGJEnVuR_8w%3D&ved=0ahUKEwjWidvwrbXRAhUB5iYKHfIrCrcQyjcINA&ei=kKlzWNaBFYHMmwHy16i4Cw#imgrc=UQgTxXvtrJyUvM%3A .  This work reflects the world because it includes actual news articles and major stories. My work can influences my own life in a positive way when it comes to my upcoming projects in art class. A certain technique that was important was the mod podge,  using not to much but not to little for the newspaper. A new technique that I learned or experimented more with in the process of making this work is the amount of paint used.

Overall this project turned out very good. It didn’t take long at all to finish and complete all components. I would enjoy to do this project again.

Value, line and texture drawing

For my quarter 2 project, I decided to do “Value, Line and Texture Drawing” because I wanted to challenge myself with new art drawings. My overall vision of my work is it turned out better than I expect it. I expect my audience to react in a positive way and I think that they will react in a positive way. What I think I’ve achieved through the creation of this art is how to add different kinds of texture to an art drawing. My current work relates to my previous work because I have done it in art. This project relates to contemporary art because artists have use value, line, and texture in their drawings. For example, Zheng Chongbin has used a lot of texture in his "Eroded Strata" drawing that he made in 2015. The first thing I did when making this artwork is I first drew the flower, then traced the flower with a black charcoal pencil and then I started adding different kinds of texture to the flower. A new technique that I have learned while making this art is more about shading and texture.

Value , Texture and Line Rose

Samantha Green

January 9th , 2016

Artist statement .

I have created a rose as my art work with value , line and texture because I figured what’s better to use other than a flower ? That could be the perfect fit for line texture and value. What I have achieved through doing this artwork is learning how to blend things to give it a different appearance for others to view using charcoal you can also call this appearance in my art work the value of it. To the viewer my artwork communicates that the dark and lighter parts on the petals gives off the view of how a real flower could look which is decent , also the texture on my flower gives off a real life effect to , well at least to me  one of the textures are cross hatching which I think was a cool experience drawing it was something different that I thought was actually nice. This current art work relates to my previous art work because I remember in ninth grade I had to draw my shoe. Which had to do with value line and texture and now that I look back on it I wish I wouldve looked up some more things to do. It would've gave off a better effect such as cross hatching it just gave me something more to evaluate. My art fits in with contemporary art because an artist named Wei liang it was created in 1964 , in his image for value he did the same thing I did that gave off a different effect he did the image very dark and the other places very light only difference is his is symbols and not flowers. My artwork is similar to this I used charcoal.

The process I used to create my artwork was youtube because at first I couldn’t do it, but I followed the out like to create the other part of the flower and within the inside I created my own petals. To make the dark spots on my rose I used charcoal and the light spots I used a pencil and held it different ways to get a different effect. Some ways my artwork can reflect my life is I have had some bad and some good the dark represents the bad and the light represents the good. The techniques that were so important to my work are the form of holding the pencil and pressing down on the charcoal , if you didn’t gold the charcoal the correct way you could mess up and smear it everywhere and if the pencil blended with the charcoal it would look messy. The techniques I used that were and experimented on that was new to help me create my artwork are the charcoal and drawing the texture which was cross hatching. My artwork connects to the real world such as the world we live end because the world is getting very dark and the things that are helpful to the world will soon be taken away because of the dark mean hearts around us , there are only a few people who care left.

Basketball Phenom

I created this work because I enjoy drawing and this was the best option for my choices. I liked the textures part and how I shaded the background. I wanted to show myself in the future as a basketball player in the National Basketball Association. I drew myself playing for the MIami Heat, wearing my favorite number, 25. My work communicates my aspirations of becoming a basketball phenom in the NBA. I think it’s on the same level of my previous work though. I actually like it better than my eye that I created in this class.

The first thing I did in my process was look up a picture of Dwyane Wade for reference. Dwyane Wade used to play for the Miami Heat that’s why I used to love them and decided to make my future self to play for them. Like I said my inspiration was Dwyane Wade. My work only reflects my life because it shows that I like to draw and play basketball. I also used to play for the Miami Heat on NBA 2k video games. My work can’t really make an impact on the world if you ask. I learned how to crosshatch from this project. I also learned shading. LIke the lighter part is where the light hits and such.

So to conclude, this is all about my art and what you should know about it.

Line Texture and Value

I’ve created this piece of art to give people something to think about deeply within their minds. I was hoping to achieve people going beyond what they see inside or outside of the cube. The cube communicates how people are never able to see the same side or all sides. I’m pretty sure i’ve achieved a growth of open mindedness among people.

My current work is deep my last piece of work was also deep. I like to make very innovate drawings with deeper meanings that the surface.I started drawing a cube. Then after I was finished drawing the cube and made sure that my lines were parallel I moved on the adding a shadow to the cube. After I added the shadow effect you see how the cube soon pops out of the paper. Next I used a shading tool and I shaded every part of the paper that wasn’t the shadow part of the cube. Only one side of the cube was shaded. There was no place where I got my information from unless you count my head and I can't source my brain. My work reflects not only on me but on everyone in the world. This is factual because not everyone thinks the same. No one ever has the the same exact thought about something. It’s what makes us unique as individuals. No one ever sees the same side. I’ve experienced being in arguments and some people just don’t see the same side as others. That's what an argument is. Trying to get someone to see the same side you do. Like reading a book but not being on the same page.In my opinion I personally think that my art could make an impact on the world and It would try to get people to be more open minded and work harder to come to the same place. The shadow effect was the most important part to the work because it’s the main thing that makes the cube look 3d. I learned how to add shadows to the right parts of my drawings.

Mixed Media

When I first chose my theme for my project I was not sure if I was going to be able to pull it off. I created this piece of artwork because it represents my favorite animal and my zodiac symbol. I thought that my finished piece was going to be how I imagined it but it came out totally different. Through the process of making the piece I could start to see that it was not turning out the way I wanted it to so that is when I started to come up with the idea to hide the Lion paw print in the painting so that when people see it they can search for it. Finishing the project I wanted to do something to capture people’s attention so I used newspaper and a red background to make the piece be noticeable and so far it has caught my classmates attention.

In the past I have done projects where I had to hide a person, place, or thing in the painting and they all came out great. Coming up with an idea for this project was difficult but I started by figuring out what i was going to hide in the painting, then I used newspaper, markers, crayons, and paint to hide the object. My art piece could inspire others to do a mixed media project or to just try a mixed media project and also show them that you do not just have to use crayons or paint to make art you can use other objects to. Time management is very important because you need to know when you will be able to finish a certain part of the art piece and being organized is important so that when you start your piece you know where everything is. I had fun doing this project I just wish it would have came out better.

"Winter Night" - Limited Palette painting

Winter Night

Snowy woods are like one of my favorite muses! Add a toasty looking cabin and Wamoosh! Tell me it doesn’t look cozy! I did the limited palette painting; my colors were red, blue, and yellow. I chose those colors because I knew of the many colors you could get out of it.
My vision for this painting was for someone to look at it and feel chilly, but then glance at that cabin and campfire and feel warm and toasty. I feel that way when I look at it so I think that’s a plus-one point.
This project relates to “Emotions” because it’s another one of my favorite muses mixed with the overall topic.

This project relates to contemporary art because because environment paintings/photography are one of the most common. This could be compared to artists such as Nils-Udo, Agnes Denes, and maybe even Michael Heizer.
The process was okay, I wanted the sky to be like a chilly blue day but then Mrs. Hertz told me using white counts as another color so I had to scratch that and put in my chilly purple night. I actually like it better now!
I had to mix a lot of different shades of the same color so it could like pop more, I had a certain tree that I wanted but I didn’t (still don’t) know the name of it. So I went on Google Images and searched “snowy woods”, once I found my trees I searched up cabins, and then made my sketch.
This painting is actually like a go-to image for me whenever I’m feeling down, it makes me feel serene and at peace. It’s really helpful for when I’m feeling anxious.
A new technique that I have learned would have to be considering constructive criticism. I’ll be honest, if someone tells me something is wrong with my art, I usually just ignore them and continue on. This time, I actually listened to Mrs. Hertz and my peers and found out how to make my painting look more realistic.
Please enjoy “Winter Night” Thank you!

I created this art piece because i do better art with using paint and it was a challenge for me to only use three colors. My vision was to make hot and cold so one side was winter and the other side was summer. I feel like they know there is two different perspectives to my drawing based on the colors. I think i achieved at making the most colors out of only three colors. It relates to the color wheel because we made many colors using primary colors. The first thing i did when making this artwork that i made was the color mixing board with all the colors that can be made from blue white and red(which were the colors i used for this project. I don't think this art really reflects anything on my life. A technique that you can use is to know that even the littlest drop of a color can change the color that you are mixing or trying to make.

Limited Palette Painting

My artwork is based off the book The Giver by Lois Lowry. The image represents where The Giver gave Jonas his first memory. I went with this idea because it was one of my favorite books that i really enjoyed reading and I thought it would be a good idea to share with the rest of my classmates. My vision was the dream and he work area because that is the main setting in the story/movie. They noticed that it came from the book and the remember the area where they shared the dreams. I achieved trying to get my vision on to the canvas board, and mixing the colors that I choose to make other colors. While creating this project, the color wheel we made before really helped my know how to mix the colors and know which colors go where and how it mixes. I enjoyed an artwork by  Sandy Skoglund called Gathering Paradise, it compares to my work because she only focuses on the three colors like the purpose my my project and it goes all together and the different colors makes each object pop out more. For example her squirrels are a dark purple trying to make it noticed in the painting, and in minds i made the house and the apple and the chairs a shade of red to make it notice like it’s the main attention of the project. In the beginning of the project I was brainstorming and the book The Giver was the first thing that came to my mind. So i immediately started looking for pictures about his first dream which was the cabin in the woods and the area of where all the dreams were shared. I then started to try and get the exactly image of the dream and area on my sketch book and made a few differences to my drawing I was hard trying to make the image of the dream because that wasn’t exactly how the dream was like. After I finalized my drawings I wanted to add quotes from the story just so people can get an idea of the painting. I can say the hardest part was trying to put my idea onto the canvas board and making sure the picture was big enough to take up space of the board. I was going to create a frame but I had trouble getting it done on time. The images that were found on google images was really helpful to me so create the drawing(https://www.google.com/search?q=the+giver&rlz=1CADEAC_enUS715US715&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwim_q7aj8zRAhWDQyYKHda6BA4Q_AUICCgB&biw=1366&bih=702). This reflects my own self because it represents me and how my ideas are, I enjoy drawing things that I enjoy doing if it’s about dance books etc. This drawing will impact others because they might think about the book and would want to read and maybe they will get an idea about creating something about the book like I did and share it with others. You have to be very careful with your lines, don’t try about move a lot so it doesn’t mess up, and something really important that I learned this project is concentrating to make sure everything is well put together

Graphic Design
Quarter 2, I did a project on Graphic Design,in which I needed to bring shapes together to portray an image without using words that would explain the image. This image needed to be a road sign that could give direction to the drivers. The process was interesting and tedious. At first I wasn’t aware that the sign could not include words so when I sketched my sign; I decided to do road construction up ahead. I loved drawing it,but I found a large difficulty in finding a website that could actually help me achieve my goal. Eventually I ended up with pixlr graphic design tool website. I did not like how it worked and it didn’t have many shapes.I believe it was best with editing an image more than making an image. I did the best I could with that, but I did not believe that it was worthy of submission because I did not like how it was portrayed. So, I asked my fellow class members who also had Graphic Design project and most of them used pixel, but I one classmate used another designing tool website called ipiccy. This website was extremely better than pixel it had shapes that I could use and editing features that made it easy to transform my project into something I had better faith in.
A success I had was re-doing my sign over with another graphic design website. The image came out so much better and clearer that I felt like I accomplished something. My failure that I had in this project was trying to make something off of pixlr;it was a waste of time and the outcome was not good. I learned, for this project, that images are made of shapes and you can use any shapes to make that image. I learned that when making my image if I don’t have confidence in it,than it’s not worthy to be submitted because if I don’t have confidence in my own image than I could do better. I learned that when making this image I need to pay attention to comments and the feedback because to make a better image for others to understand, their perspective is important. I learned, about myself, that I should have high expectations for my work and not settle for anything less. I need to be confident in my work and work hard to submit the project.
If I were to do this project differently I would look for other graphic design websites, rather than just taking what is suggested to me. Although, it was suggested I still have the option to look for others. Also, any tips I have for future projects would be to work hard to achieve your goal. This project inspired me to have high expectations for myself in any project, in any class.

There is simply no substitute for hard work when it comes to achieving success.

In this graphic design project we had to create a road sign that represents a real or fake situation or direction.  The sign should have any words, just images to convey your message.  In order for me to complete this project I had to choose a platform where I was going to create my sign. I took me a while to find one because I had to try all of them to see which ones I was most comfortable with. I ended up choosing YouiDraw  to make my design. I encountered some problems on the way because YouiDraw doesn’t save your work automatically. So Ms Hertz told me to use Pixlr instead, but that didn’t help because it was really hard to use. I ended up using YouiDraw again and figured out how to use it. For you to save your work you had to lock each movement you did so it can save, but don’t exit out the tab or it'll delete. I learned that I need to look at whatever tool I'm using thoroughly before giving up because I ended up finding a solution to my problem. I learned that I can be creative with different tools to make designs, even htough it's not always easy you'll find some way to do it.

Image Editing Project

The statement itself can be in text form or you can include it as a voice over within your project feature. You MUST include:

  • A description of your project and project goals, including what you hoped to learn through completing the project.

The project goals were to find out how to edit an image while still sending a secret message. The only thing I hoped to learn was how to edit an image through this project.

  • A description of the process and steps you went through to complete the project.

To complete the project was simple. First I found images that weren’t copy right, just to avoid image rights, I found 4 images. Then I started a tutorial to find out how to edit an image. I then used the skills gained to complete the project by editing multiple images.

  • Any successes and/or failures you encountered. If you describe a failure, explain how you overcame or worked around that failure.

I successfully created the image I wanted to make. But i couldn’t out a fade effect on the images the way I wanted to. I also had some problems with overlapping images, I figured out how to fix that.

  • What you actually ended up learning through the completion of the project. (BE SPECIFIC about skills, concepts, ideas....)

What I learned about this project was how to edit an image and the message I was trying to send also taught me something about values and that everything wasn’t also black and white.

  • What you learned about yourself through the completion of the project. (don't skip this one, it's important!)

Through this project I learned that I was very perceptive about situations that come to my attention. I also learned that I’m growing morally.

  • How you would do this project differently if you were to do it all over again.

I I were to do this project over again, I who probably do the same theme, but with different images and situation to make the viewers still watch to make a big choice.

  • Any tips or hints for others attempting this project.

Look at the tutorials in the websites provided because they really help  when editing. You can really do anything.

  • What this project inspired you to do next.

This project inspired my to draw more, something I like to do. I would like to draw complicated images.

  • Proper citations for any work that is not yours

Yes.

  • How did the tool you used to create the project help and/or hinder your ability to convey the message that you were trying to convey through project? Please provide a detailed explanation.

The website I used helped me do a lot of the things that I wanted to do, with filter sand colors, but i also stopped me from doing things like overlaying things the way I wanted and fading.

I have also posted this on my website.

Image Editing Project

Background3
Background3

The project that I chose was image editing. For this project, you had to edit an image to tell a story or to convey a message. For my own project, I chose to tell a story about myself on how I view my physical appearance as. When completing this project, I wanted to learn how to better my previous attempts of image editing using different tools. When I first started this project, I was trying to figure out what images I wanted to use and what message I wanted to convey. I honestly changed my original  images because my original images that I was gonna use didn’t have a clear message. The newer images that I choose telled a story to example the conflicting feeling on how I myself as beautiful.  Then I started working on an online photo editor (Pixlir) and I struggled to get some things to work. However, I soon started to get the hang of the tools after I started to put my image together. Some of my successes was when I was able to blend the images well together and simply knowing how to edit certain images instead of the whole image. My failures were simply messing up and deleting the entire image that I made. It wasn’t difficult to overcome, so I simply just stop making this mistake. I learned how to blend and blur other images into each other which I found to be very helpful for me. The reason why is because when I blend the images well, it makes that image look like it was always apart of the original image.I learned that I have a good habit of learning things quickly and understanding them when it comes to technology and I felt like it showed through this project that I have did.

I would want to use more of my own images that I have taken for image editing than having to go through all the troubles of finding copyright free images to use. I can only tell them not to get frustrated when something doesn’t go their way when editing. Trust me, there's a reason why they created the undo button. This project inspired me to try more image editing because I found this project really fun to do and to create.I honestly don’t believe that their was a certain tool that really helped me to convey this message. The only thing that I can think of would be the merge tool because it helps make everything look like one image. I would also say the layers tool really helped me out because if I messed up something when editing that’s far from repair, I can simply delete that layer instead of redoing the whole idea.

3D Model of a Drum Set

My goal for this project was to make a creative, appealing 3D model drum set. To do this, I used a modeling program called "Clara.io". First, I made all of the drums from cylinders, and then the cymbals. The last step of this process was to make the cymbal stands and then align all of the drums so that they are symmetrical.
I was very successful at learning the program and most of the tools it had to offer. I learned how to manipulate shapes within the program to create a lot of different looks. I also learned how to add texture and color to the shapes that I made. What I learned about myself during this process is that I'm really good at self-learning, but I need to focus on following through with simple things like checkpoints.
If I would do this project again, the only thing I would do differently is submit all of the checkpoints. For anyone attempting this project, my advice would be to watch all of the tutorial videos. This will be really helpful in getting the exact look you want for your design.
Clara.io really helped me to get the look I was hoping for in this design. You can change virtually any detail on any shape. This made it really easy for me in the learning and creation processes because all of the tools I needed were available. All I had to do was play around with the program and I'd eventually figure out what I needed to do. This project has inspired me to take this model into the makerspace to recreate it.

Project Statement

For my project, I decided to edit two drawings that I created into something comical. My project pokes fun of the election without belittling anyone’s opinion on who should win, because if a joke offends a large amount of people, then it isn’t considered funny. I made two of my characters either a Trump supporter or a Hillary supporter. The whole point of the project is to create a cartoon representation of the election, but at the same time create a smirk because of the facial expressions of both characters.

What i did to achieve this goal was through a number of programs. I first used Polarr for filters on both characters. For the Trump supporter I used a warm purplish color because the shade of the color was suppose to complement the dull facial expression of the character. For the Hillary supporter, I chose a bright filter which complements the happy facial expression that the supporter is showing. I wanted to make the facial expressions really pop out since I wanted it to be comical.

After I was finished the filtering I used the adjustment tool from Polarr to change the angle of the Trump supporter character to make it seem like a cartoonish scene where the character pops in from the side of the screen. Then I used Paint Tool Sai for almost everything else. The magic wand allowed me to cut out the image from the original image and make it have a transparent background. I used layers to overlap images. I lowered the opacity for the second image’s “I’m with her” text to 70 since it had a glaring background. I then went to a text editor to add a logo to the first character’s shirt then changed the perspective of the text to fit around the shirt and a speech bubble to the second character.

There were some ups and downs for my project, but I got through it. Some failures was using the blur tool on Polarr,. I tried everything and it didn’t work. That’s what lead for me to use Paint tool sai. I learned more about Paint tool sai than I knew when I first got it. I didn’t know I could use the magic wand to copy the image. I would definitely use Pixlr to add my drawings, because it changes any picture to transparent and that would help me put a watermark on my art so people wouldn’t steal it. I honestly would use Pixlr again in the future while drawing, due to it having an easy learning curve. The toolbar is easy to read and to use. The only thing on Pixlr I just didn’t like the magic wand tool. I found Paint tool sai’s magic tool easier to use because I can color in whatever I want to copy or fill. My future goal is to learn how to PhotoshopCC so I can draw.
